Question:

....Myxamitosis jab?

My rabbit had his first myxamitosis jab on the 22nd August. Just a few minutes ago i was petting him when i noticed 2 small lumps (one larger than the other) just under his ear (where the jab was injected).

Is this a side effect? Is this normal? Urgent?

I'm calling the vet tomorrow, but I just wondered if anyone has had this before and what it is or if it's anything to worry about?

Thanks :)

  1. The first symptoms of Myxomatosis are swellings under the ear.  Most vaccinations work by putting a small amount of the disease it is protecting the person/pet from into them.  Sounds to me that this would be a natural side effect of the vaccination in the same way that a lot of people who are immunised against diseases get a few spots after they've had their jabs.

  2. Its probley just a reaction from the injection, my girl had no problems with the Myxi or VHD jabs but when she had a shot of antibiotics she had a lump come up, vet said some have reactions some dont.

But its good you calling your vet.
