  1. a pleco will work nicely. try dragon fish which will stay towards bottom if you don't mind having a plastic tube in the tank get a ghost knife or any knife.

  2. Other fish:

You might try danios or smaller rainbowfish.  there are many choices, an easy way is to just take a walk through the local pet store.

    For algae eater:

I think the otos and cories will be too small and harassed.

Most plecos will be fine if there are caves and places for them to hide.  most are fairly nocturnal and will move about when other fishs are sleeping.

The problem with many plecos is that they get BIG (up to two feet).  Bristlenose and clown plecos gets 4 inches long and arepeacefull.

If your tank is large enough (if you plan to upgrade), 65g+, I could recommend a common pleco or Sailfin pleco, they get big (18-20 inches) but are very peaceful and are an armoured catfish, and they know it too, muscling inwhere-everr they want to be (beware they - and other plecos - often uproot plants).  Not much can argue with an even a 4-6 pleco, and most pretend the adults are just decorations.

    Good luck!
