Question:

N gauge train slows down and stops why?

i bought a train yesterday and when i run it with my light up carriges which go with the train it slows down in some places of my layout any eletricly help out there :S.

  1. First, check to see that all the rail-joiners are tight, if not, correct this.

    Next, note WHERE it stops... same general area each time ? Is it distant from the location of the power-connection to the TRACK ?

    IF so, add an additional power feeder to the track at the FAR end of the loop.

    IF THAT doesn't fix it... clean the track and locomotive wheels with the proper tool / materials.

  2. Ive been running model trains for a fair while now (mostly HO)

    problem is unless you set it up to be permanent they will always do this. sometimes old connectors are the problem, they just aren't getting a good enough connection, sometimes enough power is circulating for one engine but, another engine which may use more power needs full circuit power.

    also sometimes the engines like to push the track apart when they drive over a connection.

    I would start by looking into the connectors and changing out bad ones.
