The Yellow Army recorded a 1-1 draw in the opening match of the new Eredivisie season against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Willem-II-c40945 Tilburg, and the 42-year-old tactician admits that his side played sloppy football.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NAC-Breda-c39983 head coach, John Karelse, was not content with his side’s 1-1 stalemate against Willem II Tilburg in the opening game of the 2012/13 campaign at Koning Willem II Stadion on Friday, August 10.
The former Newcastle United player revealed that his side played poor football near the penalty area, and insisted that they must overcome the little errors if they are aiming for a top-half finish on the table.
“For most part of the match, we played quite nicely, though, we never really managed to impress near the penalty area. We put immense pressure on their defence that they were forced to deliver long balls. But we never really managed
to create clear cut goalscoring opportunities”, Karelse was quoted as saying to the media.
The Dutch mentor went on to insist that his troops were occasionally below par in the game, and revealed that their efforts throughout the 90 minutes were not enough to secure them a good result.
“We were too sloppy occasionally, and that is a sin. We know that we have not created plenty of opportunities. All in all, we were reasonable, but it was not enough to bag three points”, Karelse concluded.
Willem II commenced proceedings at home brightly, but their dominance faded away as the match progressed. Much of the action took place at the centre of the pitch until the half-time break, as both sides went deadlocked into the
break.
Both sides resumed action cautiously in the second-half. However, the hosts started to control the game, and Jens Podevijn broke the deadlock in the 79th minute.
NAC managed to level the score-line through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anthony-Lurling-c6220 in the 87th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, the score-line read 1-1 with both sides sharing the spoils.
NAC will lock horns against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede in their next Eredivisie fixture at Rat Verlegh Stadion on Saturday, August 18. Karelse would be keen to secure his side’s first win of the new season in front of their home crowd.
