am hoping that he will. am looking forward for the US open and again hoping that he will surpass the quarterfinals he did last year (better if he will win the trophy which i think he can based from his previous performances especially at the olympics. BY THE WAY, below is the latest rankings points released by ATP:

- NADAL: 6700

- FED : 5930

- DJOKO: 5105

Based on the above, CAN:

* fed reclaim his number 1 spot or he will go further as number 3?

* djoko overtakes fed as number 2?

PLS ADVISE YOUR OPINIONS.....

Vamos RAFA for being the NEW NUMBER 1

  1. Well Rafa reached the 4th round of the US last year whereas Novak got to the semis and Federer won it. Nadal has far less points to defend there. Touranaments are running out. There is Paris and US which are now the main possible provider of points for the rest of the season. It is pretty certain Nadal will end the year #1.

  2. yes more then likely nadal will maintain his ranking.. he is not going down anytime soon.. he will stay where he is for a while..

  3. Nadal is 1 player who continued his NO.2 spot 4 a long time though he deserves the NO.1 spot b4.

Bt now whn he got it NO he is NOT gonna loose that neither this yr hopefully nor nxt yr....

  4. Rafa's in super form lately. I think he'll definitely maintain his top position for this year! His hard court game's improved SO much, and he's one of the major contenders for the Flushing Meadows now. He'll be the world number one when the year ends for sure.

The difference of points between Novak and Roger's not too much! With the US Open and Australian Open coming up, Djokovic will earn more points. He could over-take Federer soon.

But Federer should not be under-estimated. He's still a great player. He could jump back for all we know!

  5. yes

  6. Yes i do think .For  that he still needs to be determined and has to  work very hard as he will  face a very strong competition from the other players. happy to see him as WORLD NO 1.

  7. I agree with thr

VAMOS RAFA for officially being the new number one! But his style of play wears down his knees and body so much that it makes me worry if he'll be able to keep it for long. On the other hand with Federer not being the one that everyone is after he'll be playing like he's got nothing to lose so I look for him to possibly regain it before the year is over but I don't see him slipping to number 3, he's playing way more solid tennis than Djoko. In all honesty the only person who can lose the number one ranking is Rafa by crashing out at the end of the season like he usually does because of how he plays tennis, but he's totally capable of keeping it when the year is over.

  8. Rafa should have no problem holding the No. 1 ranking. He should start as US Open favorite, or at least manage to go high, semis or final where, depending on the draw, I would think he would face Djokovic. I think Fed is on a huge decline right now, and I wouldn't be surprised if good results from Djoko from the US all the way to the Australian would be enough to see him take the No.2 spot.

  9. i don't think so, they said that he's up there because roger push the bar a little too high for a lot of players, and incidentally it was rafa who came first to touch that bar.But he isn't the one who wanted to be in level to that bar ,therefore there still a lot of challenges he must master. Personally, he's playing style will wear down his body and other players will advance to the top ranking.

But i  hope that the truest champion among them, the one who set the bar reclaim his position and continued to draw more winnings he deserve.

  10. For the rest of this year, I would say he'll keep it.  I hope he holds on to it at least for a few months or something.  It is kind of embarrassing to be ranked number 1 the lose it like in a week or something.....like in the ladies section right now.....they're only separated by like less than a hundred points so anyone can be number 1 in the ladies.  His game has definitely improved on hard courts so it doesn't really sound good for those who are a threat to him before.

  11. Well apart from me being a sentimental..... I do believe that Federer will come back with a vengeance. After all... he doesn't have anything to lose anymore. Rafa is a champion, but when you watch Federer play its like watching poetry in motion... whereas Rafa.. one must wonder where he will be five years from now after the punishment he puts his body through. But good for Rafa.... but here comes the US Open and a couple of  people have a lot to prove as it wasn't that long ago that Djokovic was gunning for No.2 in the world and he is the only one that can and has beaten Rafa.

  12. Enhorabuena Rafael, mundo numero UNO!

Nadal will keep his number one ranking

Nole can overtake Federer but I doubt it right now. Lets see how well he does at the US Open :-D

    Viva Espana!

  13. RAFA will be number 1 for a while  and will stay in the top ten for a long time because of his clay dominance
