Explain the limited nature of NAFTA and how Mexico has become a hub in the wheel of trade isolating Canada from other countries in the world.

  1. NAFTA is limited in nature... I agree...Mexico has definitely gained the most from the free trade agreement.... Canada does have access to US markets...The reason Mexico has gained so much is because they were so poor before NAFTA. The price of labor is low in Mexico and this is why they seem to benefit the most. Polls in both Canada and Mexico indicate that Mexicans and Canadians both see themselves as the loser and the US as the winner.. Polls in the US see Mexico as the winner and split between Canada and US as the loser.

    When you say that Canada is being isolated... I do not know what you mean..

    If you want to evaluate NAFTA, first you must ask the question "Where would we be without NAFTA?" Then you can judge whether it is better or worse... The difficulty is, of course answering that question... In International economics the answer is simple.. Free trade benefits all three countries..

    However, tell this to the auto worker with 3 kids that just got laid off...

    If you are insinuating that Canada doesn't have fair access to US markets.. I disagree.. And I also do not know how NAFTA is isolating Canada either...
