There are a number of financial advisors that do not recommend Roth retirement plans.  The feeling of these planners is that the government never gives presents, and as their budgets fall short, they will go back and retroactively apply a tax against earnings in a Roth account, which will negate any advantage a Roth has over plans like a 401K or 403B.

However, its false that Big Nance is trying to do anything like that at the minute.  If she did, she'd be chasing the Democratic voting base away from Obama, and she wouldnt want to do that in an election year.
