  1. This pathfinder is a gathering of NASA reports and other resources on missions to the Moon. All items are available at the Headquarters Library, except as noted. NASA Headquarters employees and contractors: call (358-0172) or email Library@hq.nasa.gov for information on borrowing or in-library use of any of these items. Members of the public, contact your Local Library for the availibilty of these items. NASA Headquarters employees can request additional materials or research on this topic. The Library welcomes your comments or suggestions about this webpage.


  2. NASA does plan to return to the moon in a stage of automated and human missions. They are based on similar plans to the original Apollo program, in design and function. Even the return capsule looks similar. However the technology is far from 1960s tech...super microcomputers, automatic guidance, lazers, pinpoint accuracy, and the advances of 40 years of science. The program is called "Orion" look it up on wikipedia. They have a minimum of two planned manned missions in 2019, at least staying one week on the moon, possibly longer. So the total mission will be about two weeks, and will be a stepping stone to a Mars mission.
