NASCAR '09 Dot Colors?

Question

Well, we have NASCAR '09 on Playstation 2. Now, whenever you're racing, up in the right hand corner, there's a picture of the track. You can see your number, and the leader's number. Everyone else, though, is either a blue, red, or black dot. What do the colors mean?

I think The red means a rival, the blue means pitting or in the pits and the black is top 10
