It's gotten ridiculous. In Sonoma, it was literally every six laps, there was a commercial break. I felt like I was watching the race in between commercials instead of it being all the way around..

  1. yeah we had this question a few days back.  It get so you run to the kitchen for a snack, or to the bathroom, whatever, during a commercial...come back and just get comfortable to watch the race and another commercial comes on.  I do other things as well during that time but it's up down up down up down every 2 minutes.  This year i have noticed it more than last season I guess. Maybe it's my imagination.

  2. Everybody except the network and the sponsors.

  3. It's TNT, not the usual practice. TNT doesn't belong showing NASCAR races. Kyle Petty and the rest may be good at their job, but TNT needs help with the coverage.

  4. i can't stand those announcer dudes.

    oops (sorry)

    But I can't!

  5. depends upon who is covering it.  espn, my god, they have probably a 2:1 ratio of commercial time to race time.  they come back from commercial under caution, show you what caused the caution, maybe show the pit stops, then go back to commercial.  they are THE worst.  watching truck racing on speed is nowhere near as bad, and fox, although still overly commercial filled, was not as bad as espn.  tnt is about like fox, but at least i have racebuddy so i can watch that during the commercials - so i don't constantly have to fear coming back from commercial and hearing "we're back under caution - kyle busch..."

    ;-)

the least they could do is the split screen thing like abc does with indycars.

  6. It would be on pay per view if there weren't so I'll deal with it.  It doesn't really bother me.  Its the same number of commercials every week on every network except for the Daytona 500 and the All Star race.

  7. TNT is the worse when it comes to commercials.

  8. Absolutely! I don't watch the race on network TV anymore, but use pitpass instead.

  9. I never watch a race live anymore.  I record everything and fast forward the commercials.  We have enough advertisement forced on us during the race anyway...(a sponsor for a green flag re-start?!!  give me a f-ing break)  yes, it is ridiculous.

  10. That's why I bought "Hot Pass" on Directv! When a commercial comes on, I just flip over to one of the 4 drivers and keep watching the race.

They have split screens and do show the commercials, however you can toggle through 3 different audios. 1 is the regular broadcast. 2nd is a commentator that only talks about the driver your on and 3rd is nothing but the engine noise and in-car audio. It's pretty awesome.

  11. its very anoying and i unnderstand this but its true at daytona you really only watch 15 laps and then the rest is comercial thats why its best to go to the races insted of watching them at home less comercials if you know what i mean

  12. yes it bugs the h**l out of me

  13. I can live with the commercials; I use that time to do things that I should be doing instead of watching a race.  lol

The only time it really bothers me is when they have a restart during a commercial.  When the green flag flies, I want to see it!

  14. What commercial breaks?  The whole thing is a commercial.  Did you  know that every second a car is being viewed on television they are being charged for commercial air time.  The top three leaders for example are being charged for every second they appear on tv, as are the rest of the field whom are less likely to appear on screen.   It is a race to the fans....but a money making machine to NASCAR, Advertisers and Networks.  I find it is easier to watch a race when there are only about 30 laps left and just for the reasons you stated in your question.  Good Question too by the way.
