NASCAR planned to test horsepower on at least 10 cars after Sunday's 3M Performance 400 Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway. NASCAR took several cars, while other teams wanted their engines tested. The cars tested were: took the Fords of #6-David Ragan, #16-Greg Biffle and #17-Matt Kenseth and #28-Travis Kvapil, the Chevrolet of #48-Jimmie Johnson, the Toyotas of #18-Kyle Busch and #44-David Reutimann and the Dodges of #19-Elliott Sadler, #42-Juan Pablo Montoya and #2-Kurt Busch. NASCAR planned to conduct tests on its chassis dynomometer at the track.(SceneDaily)(8-18-2008)

  1. As the article states, NASCAR took several cars while other teams asked to have their engines tested.  When NASCAR does dyno tests, they usually take one car from each manufacturer.  Unlike teams using the other makes, none of the other Chevy teams asked to have their engines tested, therefore the 48 was the only Chevrolet.

  2. I think this all has to do with the magnets found on the Gibbs nationwide cars.

This should be interesting to see how it plays out.

  3. I find it interesting they took so many fords over the others, not really impartial that way

  4. When are they going to begin random drug testing on Helton and his crew that makes these decisions?

It's obvious they wanted Roush to win at MIS. Edwards could pull away at will from the #18. Test his #99 ! Oh, wait ! Not necessary.

What's insane, if the cars pass inspection prior to and post race, why spend the money ? The France family has ruined NASCAR already with a bunch of IROC cars.

  5. I totally agree with woolie_booley. Why not test the 99 car? It looked like it had 30 extra horses off the start......hmmm
