Should qualifying be based on speed alone and do away with provisionals?

  1. It should be the 40 fastest drivers on time, then 3 past champions provisionals or next fastest drivers on time.

  2. I like the system they use now but I would lower 35 down to maybe 25.  The quality teams shouldnt have to qualify on time every Friday.  It would just make them have to dump more resources into that effort and the haves and have nots would be the same on Friday as they are on Sunday.  And do you really wanna see a great team not race on Sunday because they ran over debris on Friday?

  3. well...i think they should at least limit it to like top 25 or something like that..35 is way too many.

  4. I like the top 35 rule, it guarantees the mediocre to great drivers in and the others can fight over who can be up there.

  5. They really need the provisionals.  I mean who would be the people to get in the way of the leaders.  Seriously

  6. Yes.  I hate provisionals and I hate the Top 35...sure the big names should be locked in (because that's who the fans go to see) but 35 is way too many.  Should be top 20.

  7. No they need both.  I think the 35 rule is to many I would rather they cut it down a bit.  But like Football Linda said "who would be left to get in front of the leaders" Hahaha!!  Good one.

  8. The top 35 rule and provisionals must go.  The provisional system is well past its usefulness and 35 drivers being locked into the show every week is just too many.  If the magic number for the Chase is 12, then the top 12 should be the only ones locked into a race.  After that the next 31 fastest cars make the race on any given Sunday.  If that means big names miss the race, then try harder next week.

  9. i sure wish they would do away with guaranteed spots. racing by definition is a competition, where is the competition in being allowed to race because of past performance? everyone should be given an equal chance to compete in races. this would give the top teams less of an advantage by not letting them spend more time on race set up than the people that have to concentrate on qualifying just to be in the race. this is really bad at impound races. if everyone was put on a level playing field it might make for better racing. dale sr. always qualified in race set up, and look how it worked for him.

  10. It should be the Top 25 and then the next fastest 18 cars..no matter

  11. Yes. It'll never happen  though. Big buck sponsors involved. Either Eliot should retire, or the Wood Brothers hire a young gun to drive the 21. I've always been a fan of Bill Eliott, Melling Engines in Jackson, MI sure bailed out as a major sponsor in time.

  12. Yes

  13. I think it should be the top 25 and they should have to pit on the qualifying lap. like the all star qualifying. it would get the whole team involved
