hi...is the following correct :

NAT : is the translation between local ip addresses and global ip addresses....it offer us to represent a set of local ip addresses as a public address which provides the way to save more space for allocating ip addresses...

for example the router can send and receive info between a local ip address (like 10.0.0.x) and a global ip address through the use of network address translation.

thanks

  1. Sounds right to me

  2. NAT provides you with the ability to access devises on a local  network through a mapped (NATed) global IP Address.  As an example I have a mail server with an IP address of 192.168.3.7 and I want to allow users to access it over the internet. My isp has assigned me a block of IP numbers 201.102.101.133 to 201.102.101.164.  I then take one of my numbers and map it to the mail server..  Lets use 135 the NAT would then be 201.102.101.135 ---> 192.168.3.7  I then tell my end users to configure their mail client to 201.102.101.135.   I am away from the office and want to be able to connect to my PC at work I have a copy of PC Anywhere installed, set up and running on my PC I have setup a NAT address of 201.102.101.137--- 192.168.3.19 (my pc's local network address and then I set up my PC Anywhere software to connect to 201-102-101-137.  Launch the client connect and I am now looking at the desktop of my computer at work.
