NBA Athletes Kobe Bryant, LeBron James soon to be seen as Marvel Superheroes!
Something really exciting is going to take place in National Basketball Association now. At first we were just convinced of basketball players being signed by sponsors like Nike, Reebok and Coca-Cola, but now it’s going to be a little different and more amusing. We have a whole lot of companies that have been sponsoring NBA players and games and getting recognition among the fans. Now for a brilliant change, the basketball heroes are up to something much more thrilling. Let us step ahead and see what they have in store for us now.
NBA and Marvel Comics (that we have grown up reading) is signing an apparel deal. Yes! That’s true. Now we will be able to see our favourite superheroes and their costumes designed into our favourite teams’ colours and logos. Whoa! So, NBA's 2010-11 season is much more fun than expected.
Who hasn’t grown up reading comics and trying to do things that would look cool? We are all familiar with Superman, Ironman and Spiderman and their cool superpowers. Myths, though they might be, but we all take fancy in the techniques they use and the superhuman actions they do. Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol, Yao Ming and Kevin Garnett will have their own colour now.
If seen under a microscope there isn’t much contradiction between comics and basketball. The legendary Michael Jordan has been seen flying towards the net with long strides while dunking. There are 7’6” tall players like Yao who can shoot the ball from under the opponent player’s nose and net it four times before the other player has even blinked twice. It seems like just to make these acts even more convincing, NBA and Marvel is signing this awesome venture.
Utterly cool isn’t it? Boston Celtics, as they are all green, would be seen as the incredible Hulk. This new collaboration is going to be launching a whole new collection of clothing that would include caps, t-shirts, sweat shirts and other accessories. Aren’t you wondering that when will these be present to adorn your wardrobe? Well, this collection will be available at the not so far from now NBA All-Star game that will be held on 20 February at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles.
It’s high time that we start imagining who we would like to see Superman as and who would we like to see Bryant appearing as?
Iron Man and Lakers make a suitable combo, as both of them are hot-headed and so very rich.
Let’s get a hint from what president of Marvel Entertainment’s consumer products for North America was quoted as saying, "We decided, for instance, it makes the most sense for the Knicks to have Spider-Man since he's associated with New York City. When you look at characters such as the Hulk, you look at Green and you think Boston Celtics. There is a method to the madness."
King James fits into the role of ‘dare-devil’ perfectly. Doesn’t he? After balancing their 55-point loss to the Lakers, the Cleveland Cavaliers might classify as the ‘Avengers’. Just imagine Ramon Sessions holding a shield followed by J.J. Hickson holding a club in his hand.
