NBA- Best Point Guards Heading Into the 2010-11 Season (Part 1)
Point guards are the most important players of any Basketball team who are in charge of carrying the team forward and also initiate its offense. They are always looking for their team mates in scoring positions and passing them the ball so that they can bag points on regular basis. Not only this, the point guards are also looked upon by the team as secondary scorers. Experts are of the view that winning is the ingredient of a good point guard. If a team doesn’t have one then it is bound to land in trouble. Point guards are also responsible for change in team plans when it comes to hard situations.
Some of the top point guards heading into the new season are:
Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls uses his huge figure to speed past the defenders without much difficulty. After successfully beating the defense, this prolific player either dunks or come up with an easy basket due to the strong jumping abilities that further add to his credit. He has an extravagant one on one ability that he uses to the fullest and dodges pass defenders. Experts say that Rose should try to score while in an open court rather than waiting for the team mates to come or waiting for the defense to come back and construct a move. This is the reason that puts him in the category of players who still need to improve.
Jason Kidd of the Dallas Mavericks is another point guard in the NBA who without any doubt is one of the best when it comes to passing. His vision and ability to pass the ball through the tiniest gaps puts him on the list of most efficient and elite players in the Dallas roster. He is also an excellent three point shooter and has improved this ability in every season for the past 16 NBA calendars. Kidd is one of those players who are physically strong and provide a lock down defense that weak opponents absolutely have no chance to go through. He has been included in the list of all time top point guards in the NBA history.
Steve Nash is next in line with his two time MVP awards. He is regarded as one of the best point guard and leaders on court. The Phoenix Suns’ man is undoubtedly a future Hall of Famer and makes player around him better. He has fabulous mid air abilities that put him above the rest in the league and with him other players need to be on their toes all the time as a pass can come flying their way anytime and from anywhere. Being one of the most accurate shooters and three point scorers, Nash further cements his place. According to experts, he has the perfect basketball IQ that enables him to take the game into his own hands when required. Last but not the least, he is also one of the most successful passers in the league and is among the best due to his quality of carrying players along with him. One flaw, though that this player has is that he is not among the fastest point guards in the league and this is why he is the one who gets posted regularly and also scored upon quite often.
