NBA: Best performances from 4th March games
The National Basketball Association held 11 contests between 22 teams on 4 March, 2011. The the teams will now prepare for the playoffs and set their marks on the scale of improvement.
Williams-Impressing London fans
The newly added Deron Williams helped the New Jersey Nets to skip past the Toronto Raptors. Williams, in his fiery game, scored 16 points and produced assists on 11 shots. The player had a tenacious second half that terrorised the Toronto Raptors as he impressed his London fans. His efforts after intermission exhausted Raptors’ defence and they faltered to a 13-point loss against the Nets.
Brand’s 21 pointer game
Elton Brand played an incredible 36 minutes in Philadelphia 76ers’ 31st victory of the season. The player scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds in the win and finished on a 10-for-16 shooting from the field, also conforming Sixers’ first shot.
Durant’s durability
Kevin Durant played a key role in Oklahoma’s surge over one of the best teams of the Eastern Conference, Atlanta Hawks. The 22-year-old scored 29 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and also dished out five assists. He went 10-for-18 from the field, whereas 4-for-5 from the long range and a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul line.
Allen’s three-pointer Kingship
Who else can shine on the same court as Ray Allen? The King of three-pointers played marvelously from the long range and collected 5-of-8 three pointers. He went 9-for-13 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Samuels’ in Cleveland’s third straight win over New York
Samardo Samuels nabbed 15 points and grabbed six rebounds on a 5-for-9 shooting from the field in Cleveland’s win over the New York Knicks. The player scored his career high 23 points and 10 rebounds recently against the San Antonio Spurs. Wow!
Paul’s amazing comeback
Chris Paul did not enter the game with a good record; he had scored a total 17 points in the last three games he played and missed 22 of 29 shots. He revamped in New Orleans Hornets’ surge over the Memphis Grizzlies. Not only did he shoot 7-for-15 from the field but the player had a whopping double-double. He scored 23 points and also assisted on 14 shots, plus grabbed five rebounds and made two steals.
Mavericks- a hot team
The Dallas Mavericks had a commendable first half. They scored 68 points before heading towards the locker room. Dirk Nowitzki scooped 16 points before halftime and finished with 29 points on a 10-for-12 shooting from the field. The player pinned 9-of-10 free throws in Dallas’ eighth straight victory.
Frye’s sizzling 20
Channing Frye again displayed a sizzling performance for the Suns; the player notched 20 points in a riveting game for the Phoenix Suns. The centre/forward finished on a 7-for-12 shooting and went 5-for-8 from the long range.
Spurs as a team
The Spurs beat the Heat in a game that was a sizzler from start till the end. Eight players scored in double figures to help the Spurs contain the Heat to another slide. Manu Ginobili led his team with 20 points and seven assists.
Bynum- Los Angeles Lakers
Andrew Bynum’s performance gave the Los Angeles Lakers a good boost over the Charlotte Bobcats. The player scooped out nine points and was just one rebound shy of tying his career high 18 rebounds.
