NBA: Chicago Bulls future and facelift
The Chicago Bulls was just another average franchise trying to make its name in the NBA but something happened, something that shook the NBA nation. Three players joined the team, legendary Michael Jordon followed by Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. This trio took the Bulls to a new level, discarding the most celebrated in the league, The L.A Lakers and Boston Celtics. Michael and company dominated the 90’s, winning back to back championship titles from 1991-1993 and then from 1996-1998 respectively.
However, the Bull’s dominance ended when the trio decided to retire, the team once again became just another ordinary team and till date have yet to win a championship. Experts profusely say Michael’s team made the Chicago Bulls without them the Bulls were just another team.
Nevertheless, after a decade of suffering, the Bulls’s owner, Jerry Reinsdorf decided it was enough. He could not take the critics yipping and yapping. Jerry decided to rebuild the whole team from scratch. In this year’s off-season the desperate owner made some subtle moves which have led basketball pundits to believe Chicago Bulls could very well be strong enough to give the A-grade teams a hard run in the playoffs.
The Bulls kept some old familiar faces, while drafting and signing some striving young talent. The team has been introduced with a whole new philosophy. Experts believe this will play a major role in lifting the team’s face, making it ruthless, which is something they needed to do a long time ago. After this year’s free agency and drafting season the Bulls have formed one of the most lethal teams in NBA history.
The Miami Heat were able to reel in three big fish, James LeBron, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, that team is virtually believed to be the strongest and some believe might even over take this year’s champions, The Los Angeles Lakers.
Basketball purists believed that Chicago was an incompetent team to compete with such high-level teams until now. Chicago Bulls have added a mix of veteran and young robust players like Carlos Boozer, C.J Watson, Ronnie Brewer and last but not the least, Kyle Krover. The line-up already consists of growing stars like Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson.
Carlos Boozer might not be the best power forward the NBA has to offer in the free-agency season but he certainly was the most experienced and is amongst the elite. With a combination of his bad attitude and competitive nature he was said to be the perfect match to play right alongside Derrick Rose, the two forming a lethal duo. Although, Carlos is known to be injury prone, the Bulls need not to worry as they have a decent backup Taj Gibson and Joakim Noah to fill in the roll.
Bull’s fans are extremely confident about this year and experts believe they very well should be. Being fortunate to have a young dangerous player like Derrick Rose on the team has really made the critics re-think. The 21-year old point guard kept an astounding scoring average of 26.8 per game in this year’s playoffs, despite having an awful supporting cast. While Derrick catches a whiff of air off court, his backup C.J Watson would fill in his position.
The Bulls signed onto a swing man named Ronnie Brewer, who played for the Utah Jazz previously. Ronnie is said to take over Kirk Hinrich’s position, because of Hinrich’s inability to perform on the offense which is Kirk’s forte. However, Hinrich was a veteran, but Brewer’s height and rich 3-point field percentage will generously benefit the team in the future.
Kyle Krover is another swing man addition to the team. The veteran has various NCAA titles and has a 91.4% free-throw percentage. The swingman can also take up the roll as a centre and shooting guard, which has added a lot of depth to the roster.
Sports enthusiasts believe Chicago Bulls have really upgraded their team with the necessary players, while focusing on recruiting the right power forwards, centres, swingmen and point guards. Making Chicago Bulls practically an A-grade team, who will be able to put up a good fight in the upcoming season after 10 years of anguish.
