NBA Development League team Canton Charge reveal their new kits
Canton Charge, the NBA development league team has gone through serious modifications since its creation.
The franchise which started as Huntsville Flight in 2001 transformed to Albuquerque Thunderbirds and in last season was consequently re-branded as the New Mexico Thunderbirds. Earlier this summer, Cleveland Cavaliers made an announcement about taking charge of the team. The team’s name was changed to Canton Charge and recently the new uniform of the team has been unveiled for the upcoming 2011-2012 season.
The styling and colour pattern is set similar to that of Cleveland Cavalier’s original uniform- Golden for home and wine for the away matches.
Produced by Adidas, the kit features deep wine and blazing gold shades, in keeping with the Cavalier colours. On both home and away uniforms, the basic logo of cavaliers is positioned at one side of the shorts and the conventionalized team’s logo represented by single “C” on the other side.
“Charge” is printed in wine on the front of gold home jerseys whereas the front of wine away jersey reads “Canton” in gold colour.
The uniforms are still in the production phase and not out yet for exhibition, but the launch is expected any time in November.
Canton Charge’s senior vice president and COO, Scott Woodruff was pretty thrilled with the introduction of new uniforms. Expressing his delight, he added
“We are excited to introduce the Charge’s new uniforms that were created to showcase the team’s pride in a bold and colourful way. While the uniforms still reflect a strong connection to the Cavaliers brand, we’re going to be very proud to carry the Canton name around the league on our away jerseys and the home gold Charge uniforms are loud and proud too!
Canton will be making its debut on November 25th at the Canton Memorial Civic Centre when they face the league’s defending champions, Iowa Energy. Season’s tickets have already been displayed for sale and prices are set as low as $ 5 so that fans should come in numbers to support their homeboys.
NBA development league or the minor league is not followed much by NBA fans, however, if the season gets cancelled because of the lockout, fans will be bent to watch the development league and who knows the fame might skyrocket after this year.
