NBA-FIBA Championships and the Oklahoma City Thunders (Part 1)
The USA team has finally won the FIBA Championships once again but after a long gap of almost 16 years, though they have some of the best basketball players that exist on the face of this planet. This young and relatively inexperienced team not only showed that in order for a team to win big names are not the only thing that matters but it is loads of hard work that can also enable you to make your way to glory. The USA team not only secured the gold medal at the FIBA Championships but also proved that now anyone who wanted to be in the team, whether it is Dwayne Wade, LeBron James or Kobe Bryant, has to work their way into the team as this winning combination is no longer the B-team but is the USA A-team.
This group of young and talented men sacrificed six weeks during which they trained hard, got to know each other so that they could get along and in the end managed to do what no other US team was able to do since 1994 and brought home the title. Reports suggest that it was a great achievement that this bunch of players was able to sideline their egos and move forward as a single unit that resulted in glory for them. What is commendable according to the experts is the fact that they managed to combine and work together in a very short period of time.
With the FIBA Championships now finished, it looks as if all the media would be heading towards the star of the Championship who rose to the top of every challenge that came in his way, Kevin Durant. Reports say that it is now very easy to write about this young player who is more of an idol in the USA now for the youngsters. This team has not only shown that they have the potential to win without the big names but also opened windows of opportunities for many other upcoming superstars, who would surely make their way into the USA team, who won’t enjoy the fame like the big players in the team.
According to what experts and statistics say, Russell Westbrook was another player who was the most valuable player bench player for the United States after he managed to bring a lot of energy into the game when he came off the bench. This splendid player was involved in the key plays of every game and this is the reason that experts say that this player will surely shine in the NBA too this upcoming season. Experts say that both the above mentioned learned a great deal from their time in the FIBA Championships but without a doubt it was Westbrook who learned more as he was the player who needed some polishing.
Without a doubt, experts said that Durant was the player to watch out for when it comes to scoring while being in a scoring position being an excellent finisher. Not only this but Durant is one of those USA players who had a whole lot of responsibilities on his young shoulders and he without a doubt fulfilled them with the best of his abilities. Russell Westbrook was one of those who according to some experts shouldn’t have been part of the team in the beginning of the tournament but this player proved this wrong by not only being one of the potential winners of the team but also came up with lock down defence. This not only makes him a good player but now he according to experts is an important element of the new USA team that would look to shine every time they get on court.
According to the experts, these players will be returning to the NBA stage with a lot of confidence on their side and the Oklahoma City Thunders will enjoy the amazing experience that they went through. According to the experts, Westbrook learnt a lot from the coach of the USA team and could well be on his way into his first All-Star appearance this time around.
