Miami Heat 55 vs. Oklahoma City Thunder 43: NBA Finals 2012 – Second Quarter Breakdown
Miami Heat after their impressive start to the game, continued to dominate and found themselves ahead by 55-43 against Oklahoma City Thunder at the midway point of Game-2 of the NBA Finals.
The Thunder shook off a rusty start to the ball game and put up the same number of points as Miami, however they were still trailing by 12 points.
The entire first half performance from the Miami side would probably go down as the best half of basketball they have played all season. The Heat had every one of their starters opening their scoring accounts.
LeBron James was leading Miami`s charge with 14 points at the half. Dwyane Wade was right behind James with 13 of his own but the standout performance of the first half was put up by Chris Bosh who notched up a double-double of
10 points and 10 rebounds, 6 of which came on the offensive end. He was also able to block 1 shot in the game which came at the 3:01 mark of the second quarter.
Udonis Haslem got the ball rolling for Miami in the second quarter on a put back layup by getting an offensive rebound. The key to Heat holding their lead was their ability to shut down the transition points of OKC. They did not
allow the Thunder a single fast break point in the first half while putting up 10 of their own.
On the other hand, the slow start to the game continued for Kevin Durant who could only rack up 6 points on a 3 of 9 shooting at the halfway stage. After putting up only 3 points in the opening period, Russell Westbrook put up
6 in the second to manage 9 points. He also had 3 assists to his name.
The only thing which kept the Thunder in the ball game up to this point was the 17 point performance of James Harden who went 5 of 9 from the field and 5-5 from the free throw line. Serge Ibaka and Thabo Sefolosha were also able
to open their scoring accounts by getting 6 and 3 points respectively.
