NBA- If Michael Jordan was in NBA today
During the extravagant player’s illustrious career, Michael Jordan was one of the unstoppable men in NBA, when he was in his prime. This splendid player managed to tear across defences and end the move with a stylish basket bagging points more often than
not.
This spectacular player was talented and had quick-as-lightening first step. Michael used this as a weapon against the defences and beat them while dribbling. Mounting on the defender’s misery, this player then ended the move with an amazing dunk that left
many stunned. Added to this was the huge air time that this player had during which all spectators were left with the mouths left wide open.
None of the defenders were able to stop him and those who tried failed in doing so. The success rate of the player was quite high and often experts were heard saying that it felt like Jordan was the only person on court and there were no defenders.
The level of excellence in his game can be seen from the fact that this player was able to set an NBA record with 63 points in the playoffs. And that too in just his second season in the NBA, 1985-86. By this he set a record that still remains unbeaten.
The following season saw the player come up with an impressive 37.1 points per game. This was a thing that no other player had managed to do before the great Michael Jordan.
One of the truly amazing things during the fabulous career of one of the legends of the game was that he bagged points no matter how big the opponent was. Michael regularly came up with good performances even during the 1980s and early 1990s, when the game
turned into a physical battle rather than being a technical one.
And during that time it was very difficult to score, keeping in mind that hand checking was allowed. This meant that players could be handled by hand which made shooting all the more difficult. At that time there was no concept of the three-second violation,
which meant that defenders could camp inside the Dee.
In today’s NBA there is no such thing. No rough and physical play is allowed, and even a single touch on the player results in a foul. This gives the players in the modern era more chances of scoring.
Larry Brown, who is currently coaching the Charlotte Bobcats, says that if Michael Jordan was to play in the NBA now, he would average no less than 50 points per game. Jordan was without a doubt a great scorer, and giving him a score of 50 per game may also
seem less. But he very well could exceed the expert’s expectations, as he was one of the most talented players in the NBA.
Now we come to answer the question that what if mighty Jordan did play today instead of the '80s and '90s?
Without a doubt, this player would have been the most-talked player in the NBA, if this was the case. Kobe Bryant and LeBron James would not have been able to match him, and he would have been far ahead of them.
Not only would Michael have been able to dominate every department but would also have been able to win multiple titles. This fabulous player would have been able to beat Wilt Chamberlains record of 100 points in a game without a doubt, setting the NBA world
to new heights.
At the big stage, it would have been interesting to watch Prime Jordan vs. Prime Kobe. There would have been a high-scoring game, once both were against each other. Jordan would have scored tons of baskets on Kobe and vice versa.
Prime Jordan vs. Prime Kobe would have been something to see, which would have resulted in three pointers, dunks and amazing playmaking. All in all, it would have been an amazing and fierce battle.
