NBA Match Preview: Charlotte Bobcats vs. Denver Nuggets
In their season’s first meeting, the Charlotte Bobcats host the Denver Nuggets at the Time Warner Cable Arena on Tuesday night.
Having an off-season, the Bobcats are currently standing at a 7-13 win-loss mark this season. Alternating between a win and a loss, the Bobcats finished last week with a 1-2 mark. Their only win last week came at home when they
hosted the New Jersey Nets on Friday.
The two losses added to their score last week were on the road when the Bobcats played the New Orleans Hornets on Friday and then their latest defeat, when they played the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.
Adding to their fifth straight loss on the road, Coach Larry Brown was not happy with the team’s performance against the Sixers. Talking about the match he said, "You can't win in this league if you don't have 15 guys playing
hard. We don't play together, don't move the ball and don't defend."
Even forward Gerald Wallace agrees with the coach. Talking to the press after the match, Wallace said, "No disrespect and I love my teammates, but I think everybody was more focused on doing their job last year. We've got to
find a way to get some of that intensity back."
Wallace, who currently averages 16.5 points per game, managed to score only 8 against the Sixers on Saturday. Wallace, however, has performed exceptionally well against the Nuggets in the past averaging over 24.5 points. In the
2008 meeting, Wallace scored 40 points to lead Bobcats to victory against the Nuggets. Brown hopes Wallace will bring back that lost form against the Nuggets tonight.
Marking a 13-6 win-loss score in the standings this season, the Nuggets are having one of their best seasons yet. The Nuggets are currently on a seven game winning streak finishing last week with a perfect 3-0 mark. Having played
home matches in the last week, the Nuggets begin their four game road tour this week where they look to improve their winning streak to an all time season high.
The Nuggets are also much driven for a victory tonight since their coach, George Karl, is just one win away from a thousand wins. Looking for a milestone victory, Karl hopes it will come against the Bobcats tonight.
Although Karl missed the final two months last season, he is back this season and is very proud of his team’s winning stretch. Their latest win came last Sunday when the Nuggets registered a close one-point win over the Memphis
Grizzlies.
Carmelo Anthony registered another off night on Sunday. Anthony managed to score only 13 points with an all time season low of 20.0 percent shooting. Forward centre Nene, however, led the Nuggets to victory against the Grizzlies
as he registered a score of 27 points with 76.9 percent shooting.
Although the Nuggets are currently 3-5 on the road, a milestone for Karl will have them much motivated for a win as they visit the Bobcats tonight. Will Karl get his 1000th win tonight? Will the Nuggets extend their
winning streak to eight games? Or will the Bobcats upset Karl’s and Nuggets’ dreams? The answers to all these questions will be available after tonight’s matchup.
