NBA Match Preview: Miami Heat vs Phoenix Suns
Southeast toppers take on Pacific’s number two tonight. All set for their clash as Miami Heat visit Phoenix to take on the Suns at the US Airways Center. This would be the two teams’ second meeting of the season with Heat already leading the season head
to head by 1-0.
Standing at a commendable 21-9 so far this season, Heat recently met with a heartbreak in the beginning of this week.
Doing away with the New Orleans Hornets (96-84), Cleveland Cavaliers (101-95) and then back to back New York Knicks (113-91) and Los Angeles Lakers (95-94), Heat finished off last week with an untainted 4-0 win loss mark standing at a season high of winning
twelve straight games.
Unfortunately, thirteen became unlucky for them. Entering this week, Heat hosted the Dallas Mavericks looking to extend their winning streak. However, it was not what the Fates had in mind. Despite enjoying the home court advantage, Heat lagged the Mavericks
by five points almost throughout the game. Although, Dwyane Wade managed a three pointer with six seconds remaining, Heat eventually lost by a two point margin with the scoreboard showing 98-96.
After the game, Wade said, "All year, we're going to continue to get better, to improve to get to the elite level. We're 30 games in. These elite teams, they've been playing together for a long time."
Clearly, the Heat are interested in improving and who better to start with than the Suns since they have already beaten the team once before. With the big three, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh playing, Heat have many chances of increasing their
lead tonight.
Though their season streak might be broken, Heat still enjoy a seven game winning streak on the road and with their visit to Phoenix tonight, they are hopeful of maintaining it. Bouncing back from 2-5 to stand at a proud 9-5, Heat are clearly on a hot streak
on the road.
Alternating between a win and a loss, the Suns are barely making it to the playoffs. Sporting a 13-14 so far in the season, Suns will have to pull quite a few many aces from their sleeves if they wish to defeat the visitors.
Coming off from a short three game trip, the Suns finished last week with a 2-1 win loss mark. Their third game on the road was their opening match this week. Pitted against the southwest toppers, the San Antonio Spurs, it came as no surprise when they lost
the match 118-110 to them.
Although, Josh Childress, Jared Dudley and Steve Nash tried to salvage the match, trying to reduce the deficit, in the end the Spurs were just plain better. Nash scored 17 points with 10 assists while Childress and Dudley scored 15 and 27 points each.
Enjoying the home court advantage, Suns sport an “ok” 7-5 at the US Airways Center. Will the Suns be able to capatalize on the home court advantage and send the Heat packing? Or will the Heat, enjoying the psychological c*m statistical advantage, increase
the season head to head lead to 2-0? It remains to be seen tonight.
