NBA: Miami Heat- the 2010-11 seasons
The Miami Heat’s decision to sign the veteran Eddie House on the 29th of July has completed their squad and set to start the season. Eddie House signed a 2 year deal with the Heat and is all set to be in the running to bring the championship home.
Many speculated that after bringing in King James along with Chris Bosh, it wouldn’t be possible for the Heat to come up with a strong roster, as they had spent much already. However, this was proved wrong when an experienced veteran of the game Eddie was added. This along with the 3 super-stars in Heat provides them with even more diverse bench.
Eddie, like other players has signed the Heat on a minimum contract of two years according to their liking. Players like Eddie would also be happy with this, the reason being the fact that players like Eddie would be playing with the three All-Star. This addition further adds to the players experience and who knows add a championship to their names. Eddie is a three point specialist who breaks fast and ends the job on a high most of the time by a three pointer.
Pat Riley seems to be happy with the fact if players like Shaq, Iverson or Jason Williams are put in the position of the “role player”. By adding players like Eddie, and who knows maybe Iverson, will strengthen the Heat’s chances of success and mark the start an era of total dominance as some experts say.  Moreover, the current squad further insures them a title coming if not this season but surely in the seasons that follow.
The Heat roster has immense talent and they surely have the diversity and depth in their squad to win. This can be portrayed by the assisting talents of Dwayne Wade to the LeBron James’s spreading of the defence. In addition, the two combined could result in disastrous outcomes for the opponents. The formidable Heat team is one of the potential contenders for the title and would be tough opponents for teams like the Lakers.
The openings that the Three All-Stars will be providing others players would be great in number as predicted by some. And with the recent signings of Ilgauskas,  Miller,  Jones, and now Eddie, all these players would pounce on any opportunity provided to them which surely add to their position as a starter or on the bench and add to their championship title hopes.
Adding to the attacking options, the Miami Heat has some of the best defence specialists in the form of Haslem, Chalmers and Joel. This puts the Miami Heat in a balanced position, where they would be having a strong defence, a strong offence and it sure to leave the opponents shocked and surprised, while LeBron is on the offense combing with Bosh and Wade.
However, it is not possible for a team to be perfect. In Miami’s case, they lack a defensive minded centre. The defensive minded centre is an essential part of a locked defence. Dexter Pittman can however fit into this role if he is able to impress in the training camp. The giant at 6’11 if successful at the camp could add to his advantage and see him bagging more minutes when facing opponents like Lakers.
This is one of the reasons that some feel that Pat Riley is still not done adding players. Pat is looking for a player who is best at a specific position and wants that each of the five players on court should be King of their area on court.
Some people say that Lakers are still at the top keeping in mind the Heat squad. To this the experts add that the stats totally differ from what they say, as LeBron and Wade, both had share of the success against the Lakers though the team that they played for was nowhere near the current Miami squad.
The advantage of Miami over the other teams is that when teams like Lakers rest Kobe and Miami rest Wade, Miami would still have 2 other stars LeBron and Bosh on court. This potentially strengthens their chances of a championship.
