NBA Players unsure as to how the Lockout will pan out – NBA Lockout News
Throwing the ball in players association’s court, the NBA Commissioner David Stern has mentioned a number of times throughout the week that the league is now waiting the response from the union. However, the NBA players are still
tentative on labour dispute getting resolved before the deadline day given by Stern.
On Saturday, November 12, many NBA superstars were present at the Dwight Howard’s celebrity bowling tournament in East Orlando and no one had any clue of what is going to happen in the next week.
Former Orlando Magic’s veteran forward Rashard Lewis, who helped Howard in organizing the celebrity event, was clueless when he was asked about the chances of the labour dispute getting resolved.
“I have no idea. I'll know more tomorrow or Monday, but I have no idea what's going to happen."
Even though, it was reported that the union has compromised on the 50-50 split of the Basketball Related Income (BRI), however they want more concessions on the other issues from the owners which include flexibility in the luxury
taxes, mid-level exception and salary cap.
Due to this, many players, the president of the players association Derek Fisher and Executive Director Billy Hunter are not happy with the latest offer on the table. The whole situation is giving a feeling that the union might
not accept the deal in the next week even after when David Stern believes that the owners have offered a fair settlement.
Former Orlando Magic guard Courtney Lee, who now plays for Houston Rockets, however vowed to support the union come whatever may.
"As far as Billy Hunter and Derek Fisher, I think they're doing a good job. I don't know what's going on inside those rooms. I don't know what's actually being negotiated."
The NBA players which included Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis, Matt Barnes, Josh Smith and Courtney Lee, who were present to support the celebrity event on Saturday, showed their bowling skills this time to the fans instead of basketball.
While the NBA lockout looms in uncertainty, Dwight Howard’s charity game is schedule on Sunday at the UFC Arena. Proceeds from the game will be transferred to D12 Foundation which is Dwight’s charitable organization.
Rashard Lewis is all set to play with some of his old teammates after he was traded to Washington Wizards during the 2010-2011 season and is also dedicating the game to the fans.
"It'll be fun. I'm looking forward to playing with old teammates, guys that I've played with before. Not only that, but it's for the fans."
