NBA Players with huge fan bases around the world – NBA Feature - Part 3
The game of basketball has spread widely over the past decade or so and it has only been because of the wide following NBA has gained over this time. With a lot of brilliant athletes representing their respective franchises, NBA
has been responsible for spreading out the game of basketball and a few of these star players have grown a huge fan following around the world.
4. Pau Gasol
If any international player deserves recognition for consistency in excellence, it has to be Pau Gasol.
Not only has he been a dominating force in the NBA but has been the ultimate leader for his country during the international events. Gasol has led his country to back to back silver medals at the Olympics and has been constant
source of motivation for players back in Spain.
The two times NBA Champion and a four times NBA All-Star has achieved much in his career. He won Rookie of the Year as part of the Memphis Grizzlies thus beginning the journey of success. As his career went on, Gasol came over
to the Los Angeles Lakers – a team already clustered with stars and boasting an illustrious history.
The arrival of the Spanish big beckoned two back to back championships and after two disappointing seasons, the hunger of winning another one is still at large.
Gasol’s contributions to the world have not only been limited to his exploits on the court. Coming from a family of Doctors in Barcelona, Gasol is known for his contributions to charity and his constant urge to help the young kids.
The humanitarian status plus being part of one of the biggest NBA franchises has been responsible for taking Gasol’s name to a lot of people.
5. Derrick Rose
The Chicago Bulls were already a household name even before Derrick Rose arrived in the NBA mainly because of what Michael Jordan achieved with the franchise during his playing days. However having the third best selling jersey
in the NBA market does prove that you have a very wide fan following and that is what Derrick Rose has.
The one time MVP has taken the NBA by the storm ever since he was drafted by the Bulls in 2008 and the 23 year old only has time on his side to take his super star status to an all new level. Rose is part of this new group of young
athletic point guards who can not only pass the ball but have the ability to attack the rim with high ferocity which only makes them harder to play against.
Rose has achieved much in his young career but so far has been unable to lead his team back to NBA Finals – a place they were so familiar with during the Jordan era.
He has led the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals once and who knows somewhere in the future a championship ring may be coming his way which will only give new heights to his super star status .
