NBA Playoff Los Angeles Lakers vs Phoenix Suns who will win game two
The Western Conference Finals pit the #1 seed, the Los Angeles Lakers, against the #3 seed, the Phoenix Suns. The Lakers led their division throughout the season with the Suns close behind; the rest of the Pacific division was at least 25 games back.
A look at their records finds no discernable difference other than the 3 more wins that L.A. had over Phoenix in the regular season. Los Angeles had just two more home wins and one road win than Phoenix. Their division record was only a game apart (13-3 for L.A. and 12-4 for Phoenix) while their conference records were exactly the same at 35-17.
Both teams are chock full of stars. On the Lakers you have one of the best guards to play the game in Kobe Bryant. Pau Gasol has been a dominant, consistent force on the scoreboard as well as in rebounding. Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum are two of the strongest young players in the game today.
Phoenix also has a future Hall of Fame player at guard in Steve Nash, a former two time regular season MVP. Amar’e Stoudemire has averaged over 20 points a season for the last four years not to mention an average of 18 points and 9 rebounds in 24 career games against the Lakers. Grant Hill is no stranger to the Lakers either, averaging 17 points and 7 rebounds in 30 career games against Los Angeles.
Los Angeles may be favored in the match-up, but the only thing supposed to be for certain is that this one will likely go down to the wire. The first game was anything but wire and Los Angles Lakers outplayed the Sun’s in all departments.
Kobe Bryant was able to make his 11th career 40 points play off game and along with it Lakers were able to show the world why they are number one seeded. Sun’s back up forward was busing tweeting after the game when he posted “Tough one tonight... Gotta Regroup.. Will Watch some film, make some adjustments and be ready for game 2 wed..”
Suns think tank needs to think and respond fast, Channing Frye scored only three points going 1-8 from the field and Dudley couldn’t prevent Kobe Bryant from dominating. Hall of famer Steve Nash has anything but on top of his game; 13 points and 13 assists it just wasn’t enough. Amar’e Stoudemire the power forward had only three rebounds.
"They're probably going to continue to be taller than us as the series goes on, so we've got to ... make everything as tough as possible. We played hard, but we didn't make enough shots, and we had a few too many breakdowns,” said Nash.
Size is the main problem for the Suns and when you talk about game changing moves, size is just not an option for the Suns, simply because they don’t have it. It’s sad to say but it looks like the Lakers will coast their way to another NBA Finals unless the Phoenix Suns bring a different game to the table tonight. If they play the way they played in the first game; they have no chance of recovery. This is a must win game for them tonight.
Amar’e Stoudemire and Steve Nash got to respond and the couch has to really come to the game with a game plan. They must neutralize Kobe Bryant and not provide too many rebound chances. The second game tonight should be exciting to watch, let’s see if the Lakers stand tall again or will Suns make life difficult for Kobe and the co?
Prediction: one more win for the LA Lakers.
