After a sensational meltdown in the first game, the Memphis Grizzlies will be desperate to set things straight.......
The Game 2 of the series will see the Los Angeles Clippers battle it out against the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum in Memphis on Wednesday night. This will come after a historic come back saw the Clippers shut down the Grizzlies
in game-1.
A game in which the Clips trailed by as much as 27 points and were clueless through most parts of it, the last 9 minutes saw the game turning on its head. Led by Chris Paul and his influential passing in that stretch, the team
from Los Angeles managed their way back into the game and in the end won it with a score of 99-98.
Nick Young was the team`s leading scorer with 19 points which included three of the most instrumental triples, the final one enabling the Clips to make the score 93-96. Blake Griffin who faced foul trouble in the early phases of
the matchup, finished off with 17 points and 7 boards.
The most key contribution came from their All-Star point guard himself. CP3 scored only 14 points but ran the Clippers offence like clockwork by dishing out 11 assists helping the team record the biggest comeback of the fourth
quarter in franchise history.
However, going into Game 2, Clippers will have to face the haunting reality of playing without their starting forward, Caron Butler. He did manage 12 points on the night before having to leave the game with a fractured left hand.
On the other hand, Memphis side will look to bounce back after such a stunning loss. Having dominated the game from the get go, Grizzlies were unable to make any kind of input in the fourth quarter which resulted in them giving
up their lead and then going on to lose the matchup.
As they go into the Game 2 of this series, Memphis will look forward to learn from their mistakes and never slack up again. It is not like the Clippers were blocking every shot, they were playing defence but the Grizzlies players
went on a long drought before g*y finally got one to fall on a turnaround jump shot. By then however, it was too late.
Head Coach, Lionel Hollins who was in a state of shock after the stunning loss in game 1, will be hoping to get some kind of response from his players while closing out games. In his post match interview after game 1, Hollins contemplated
on his sides in ability to function in closing stages.
"It's the little things that cost you in games like this and playoff games aren't meant to be blowouts. Sometimes they are, but when you have two evenly matched teams, you can expect that both teams are going to be in the game
at the end. The Clippers got back to win the game. We just didn't make enough plays and they did." – Hollins
This sets the series up for some intense matches in the coming games. Will the phenomenon of ‘Lob City’ be able to answer all their critics or the Grizzlies will be able to adjust accordingly in the remaining games and go past
the first round for the second year running.
