NBA Playoffs 2012: San Antonio Spurs leading the Los Angeles Clippers 51-47: Half Time Report
The San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Clippers are their second game in as many nights at the Staples Center. And as has been the trend this series, at the halfway stage, Spurs hold a lead, 51-47, looking all set for their
second sweep in this year`s playoffs.
The Clippers have however shown resilience to make their way back into the game. Trailing by as many as 12 points deep into the second quarter, they reeled off a 14-5 to pull their way back within three points before Manu Ginobili
split a pair from the foul line to make it 51-47.
Chris Paul is leading the Clips charge with 7 points and 5 assists. DeAndre Jordan is leading the team with 8 points while Blake Griffin has recorded 7 points in the game so far. He did however had to go the locker room to get
his upper lip patched up and did not feature in the final 2 and half minutes of the first half. Randy Foye has also recorded 7 points on the night so far.
The veteran group of the Spurs has so far been led by the 30 year old point guard Tony Parker who has racked up 9 points. Danny Green has managed 7 points while Tim Duncan is at 6 points at the break.
The bench scoring for the Spurs has been spectacular. They have put up 26 of the 51 total points for San Antonio at the midway point of the contest. Ginobili is leading the way with 7 points. Tiago Splitter has 6 points while Gary
Neal has made all of his 3 field goal attempts to manage 6 as well.
One thing that has been very unlike the Spurs is that they have committed 8 turnovers which has been the main reason for the Clippers being able to stay close.
Clippers have shot the ball 45.2% from the field but their three-point shooting has been very low as they have only managed to knock down 2 of their 10 attempts from beyond the arc. On the other hand, Spurs are shooting 53.8% from
the field and have also made 2 three pointers but their conversation has been rather better as they have only attempted 6 shots from long range.
