NBA Preseason – Boston Celtics lose 1st game in the preseason 92-103 against the Philadelphia 76ers
The Boston Celtics were on the winning streak as they didn’t lose any game heading into their encounter with the Philadelphia 76ers. The match took place at the Wells Fargo Centre in Philadelphia this Tuesday. There were around 8000 fans that came to witness
the match as both teams were eager to win. The Boston Celtics to keep the winning streak and the Philadelphia 76ers to bounce back from their loss in the last match. The match ended with the Boston Celtics losing the battle 92-103.
1st Quarter
The first points of the match came in favour of the Boston Celtics when they scored through Von Wafer. Nate Robinson also came up with a few points as he scored the 3rd point for the Boston Celtics from the free throw line due to a technical foul.
The Boston Celtics had just Shaquille O’Neal playing in the side with other starting 4 players on the bench, resting.
The Boston Celtics put quite a show even though players like Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Kevin Perkins all were missing. Boston Celtics bagged 21 points during the 1st quarter. The Philadelphia 76ers led at the end of the 1st quarter
after they scored 25 points in the quarter.
The most productive player for the Philadelphia 76ers during the quarter was Thaddeus Young, who scored 7 points in the quarter and also scored 1 superb three-pointer.
2nd Quarter
The 2nd quarter saw the Boston Celtics come up with a better performance than the last quarter and they were looking to take the game to the Philadelphia 76ers. The points and chances both came in the massive amounts as the Boston Celtics scored
26 points in the quarter leading at the end of the 2nd quarter with the score 47-46 in their favour.
During the quarter, Nate Robinson, Von Wafer and Luke Harangody were on the scoring sheet for the Celtics. Nate Robinson ended the quarter with the 13 points, Harangody scored all his 8 points in the 2nd period and Von Wafer took his total to
6 points at the end.
For the Philadelphia 76ers, it was Elton Brand who scored 8 points in the quarter to keep the 76ers close to the Boston Celtics. Louis Williams was another player who bagged good amount of points for the 76ers to take his total to 9 points. The quarter ended
with Philadelphia 76ers trailing by just 1 point.
3rd Quarter
Shaquille O’Neal scored the first points of the night as well as the first points of the 3rd period. The two-pointer he managed to bag was the only basket this big player could come up with during the 19 minutes he spent on court.
Again, in the quarter, it was Nate Robinson who scored most of the points for the Boston Celtics as they scored 22 points in the quarter. The Philadelphia 76ers on the other hand scored 25 points in the quarter and took the lead at the end of the quarter.
For the Philadelphia 76ers, it was Williams who carried his form from the last quarter and scored amazing three-pointers to take his personal score to 16 points for the night.
Andre Iguodala also scored quite a few times at managed 10 points when the buzzer for the end was heard. The score was 71-69 in favour of the Philadelphia 76ers and the final quarter promised to be a very tough and exciting final 12 minutes.
4th Quarter
During the final quarter, though the early part was dominated by the Boston Celtics but overall saw the Philadelphia 76ers come up with an excellent effort that ultimately resulted in a win for them.
Nate Robinson was the player who scored points for the Celtics as he ended scoring 26 points in the match. The Philadelphia 76ers scored 32 points in the final quarter in response to the 23 of the Celtics. Marresse Speights was the most productive player
in the quarter. He ended his night scoring 19 points as the Philadelphia 76ers won the match 103-92.
