NBA Preseason: Miami Heat win 105-89 against Detroit Pistons
The NBA Preseason finally kicked off for Miami Heat as the big three- Chris Bosh, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade- were once again seen in action against Detroit Pistons.
The game was played at Miami's American Airlines' Arena on Tuesday in the presence of an enthusiastic and cheerful crowd.
1st Quarter:
The game started with Joel Anthony and Ben Wallace contesting for the jump ball. Although, Miami Heat dictated the game early on but Detroit Pistons were the ones to score the 1st via Richard Hamilton.
Hamilton bagged a three-pointer and took the score to 5-2 after Dwyane scored through a jump shot. LeBron also scored for the first time in a Miami Heat jersey, their dominating period seemed to have started.
But, Dwyane had to be substituted due to hamstring injury, with only 3 minutes into the game. From then on, the play was dominated by Miami Heat mainly through Bosh and LeBron, who finished the quarter with a driving slam dunk.
For Detroit Pistons, Hamilton was the standout performer, who scored 7 points. The total score, at the end of the quarter, was 24-15 in favour of Miami Heat.
2nd Quarter:
The 2nd quarter saw Pistons responding a little as they managed to score 23 points as compared to Heat’s 34. But, Heat were still able to establish a 20 points gap at the end.
During the quarter, Heat saw Bosh grab many opportunities coming his way that enabled them to score frequently. But, there were times when LeBron didn’t seem to pass to Bosh despite him being in open positions.
Later, making up for this, LeBron started passing the ball to him in the next play. The quarter ended with 58-38 in favour of Heat with Tayshaun Prince also bagging some good points for Pistons.
3rd Quarter:
The 3rd quarter looked a little bit on the slower side for Heat as LeBron and Bosh didn't seem that productive.
However, D-Wade’s replacement, Mike Miller rose to the occasion and bagged some good points as well as a few three-pointers. Later part of the quarter saw both LeBron and Bosh come up with excellent passing and taking the score to 87-68 in favour of Heat.
Meanwhile, Pistons also scored through Ben Gordon and Austin Daye. At quarter's end, Heat lagged behind with just 1 point as they managed to score 29 points whereas Pistons scored 30.
4th Quarter:
The 4th quarter saw players like Carlos Arroyo, Udonis Haslem and Dextar Pittman score 18 points for Heat. The trio was able to form a tight defence which restricted Pistons to 21 points. At the end of the game, Detroit Pistons were defeated by
Miami Heat by 105-89.
Only Austin Daye and Greg Monre were able to resist for Pistons during the last quarter. The match's top scorer was Chris Bosh with 20 points followed by LeBron James with 18 points and 1 assist.
The top scorer for Pistons was Ben Gordon, who bagged 17 points. More than 19,000 people witnessed the match.
