NBA Preview: Toronto Raptors look forward to an exciting meeting with the weak Philadelphia 76ers tonight
The game between the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers will take place at the Air Canada Centre, Toronto, ON at 7:00 pm. The Raptors will look forward to add another victory to the season as the Sixers will try to seize a victory after being beaten
by the Washington Wizards on Tuesday 116-114.
Although the Sixers played very well and almost neared the victory in the last quarter but John Wall jumped ahead to grab his three free throws and steal the victory for the Wizards. John Wall who used to play for the Sixers is Wizards’ No. 1 overall pick
of the year.
Face to face
The Toronto Raptors have been winning their past matches with great determination and have been showing a lot of improvement as well. On the other hand, the Sixers are losing momentum of their games and are becoming a weaker team day by day.
The last game between the Toronto Raptors and the Philadelphia 76ers was won by the Raptors 94-86. The game took place at Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA. The Sixers were lowered down to a defeat by the Raptors as Andrea Bargnani scored 30 points and
Sonny Weems punched in a career high 25 points for the Raptors. Elton Brand scored 27 points and Jrue Holiday, who is Sixers’ No. 2 overall pick of the year scored 17 for them.
The Toronto Raptors had total 44 rebounds in the game and the Sixers had 48. The Raptors took six offensive rebounds and the Sixers took 16. The Raptors gave 13 turnovers and the Sixers also gave 13. The Raptors took eight fast break points and the Sixers
took 23. The Raptors took the biggest lead with eight points and the Sixers took at 7. The Raptors had 38 points in the paint whereas the Sixers had 56.
Point to be noted
The Sixers need more of practice and determination, they lose focus as they move ahead in the game. Louis Williams also called Lou missed all of his seven shots while playing against the Raptors in their previous match.
The Sixers need not worry when they have Brand
Brand had scored a season high 27 points and eight rebounds in the match between Raptors and Sixers. He made the Sixers proud with his performance as he played more like a marquee free agent that the Sixers had courted some years ago. Sadly he was made to
leave the game last night against the Washington Wizards as he deliberately shoved a two handed knockdown on McGee after he made a dunk. At that time, there were 3:12 left in regulation and he was sourly missed as the Sixers near their loss.
Evan Turner played a good game and was there to play for 43 minutes as he kept his stance to move the Sixers ahead. He is perhaps learning and this can help him catch up with the match tonight.
Raptors in action
The Raptors have been very dangerous throughout their games as they also defeated the Boston Celtics last night. They closed the Celtics right in with a one point lead 102-101 and that too in front of their home ground at the Air Canada Centre, Toronto,
ON. The Celtics who were playing without Rajon Rondo were defenceless against the Raptors who had Andrea Bargnani. Bargnani or II Mago scored, no he rather devoured 29 points and Amir Johnson added 17 points and 11 rebounds to clinch their victory against
the Celtics.
Quotable
When asked that how he was feeling as he set up the line with only 2.7 seconds at hand, Johnson heroically said,
"My swag was up definitely at the end...my confidence level -aka swag- was up."
However the feelings of the Sixers were in a sharp contrast to that of the Raptors after their loss to the Wizards last night.
