NBA: Quality and Success but at a low price
The free agency of NBA managed to provide us with some grand trades this year, with the likes of Lebron James being the pick of the lot. Moving to Miami heat and teaming up with Dwayne Wade, another star player to form a formidable line-up for the Miami Heat. This is surely looking to challenge the current champions (Lakers) for the title for the upcoming season.
As the big names of NBA have already settled, and the business of trading during this time usually doesn’t have that much heat, as in the beginning few months and it is more on the end of trading players from other teams and filling the gaps or covering the weaknesses to form an invincible unit. Now a days trading is usually because of the fact that teams want to cut down the salaries of the player keeping in mind the financial budgets. It is for this fact that players like Paul Gasol move to another team. However, transfers may also occur due to rebuilding of a team or conflict within the team or management.
Deciding which player to buy and which player to sell is a very difficult task at this stage. Especially, when the player is reaching the end of his career and has been a part of the golden era, which the team enjoyed with him. This is the part where the team management has to brainstorm, and come up with a feasible plan for the upcoming years. So as to benefit them in the best way possible and also bearing in mind that they need to deliver results in order to maintain a good personal record and also for the millions of fans, they have. The following are some star players from the NBA that you may not even know about, but are linked with trade rumours.
One of the players that could be involved in a trade is Luol Dong of Chicago Bulls, who has an average of 17.6 points accompanied by seven assists per game, as the stats show from the past season. For this fact, he would be welcomed and would be a great inspiration and a winning token for the team but the wage of 11-14 million dollars may be a concern to the team who bids for the player.
Tayshaun Prince is next from Detroit Pistons, whose transfer may end the winning and glorious championship days of the Pistons. The tall and lanky basketball player with his tight defence may prove vital for any team he joins to become an obstacle while the opponent is on the offense.
Carmelo Anthony’s departure would result in Chauncy Billups of Denver Nuggets also leaving and if this is the case any team would happily buy him with a price tag of $13 million he bears.
The addition of Jordan Farmar from Lakers to New Jersey Nets puts in doubt the future of Devin Harris, as Jordan has come form Lakers to be in the starting 5, though there are no reports of Devin Harris going anywhere. Even though there is a speculation, that he wouldn’t take part all off-season.
Ginobilli, another star player who could move from San Antonio Spurs after having a golden era there and becoming champions with other star players like Tony Parker and Tim Duncan. This might be as a result of the same factor of Chauncy Billups, moving as a result of Camelo Anthony’s departure. As Tony Parker’s move from the Spurs may finally convince the Spurs to sell the star player and bring in some new, fresh group of players for the future as Ginobilli is one of the well reputed players in the NBA and known for his extra ordinary skills. Coupled with the fact that the aged Tim Duncan also isn’t the Tim Duncan he used to be.
NBA teams now days not only consider the price tags which are on the players but also think what the player has to offer in the future other than delivering results. Obviously, winning and becoming the champion is the ultimate goal but what after it? This is what the teams have in mind when they go out to pick players.
The big or the more successful teams as you can say, sell players to teams which haven’t achieved much in order to recruit new players. This way they have less salary to be paid for and in the future when they are the stars, and are there for other teams for the taking, not only do they benefit the team by winning but also that when they leave the team, it doesn’t have financial issues but in this case should benefit them to the fullest.
