NBA Recap: Boston Celtics lose second straight, in a 108-102 loss at home ground
In a clash between one Atlantic and one Southwest team in a teeth chattering game, the Houston Rockets closed in on the Boston Celtics to break their five game losing streak. The Rockets drew a 108-102 line between the both as the Celtics lost second straight
on home ground.
The hero returns
Aaron Brooks had a promising return after missing three games for the Rockets. The player fully defended the team with 24 points and five assists. Kevin Martin and backup centre Brad Miller were missing for the defence lacking Houston Rockets.
Players stats
Houston Rockets (17-21)
The Houston Rockets shot 52.7 per cent from the field and seven of its nine players scored in double figures. Aaron Brooks was the top contender of the game with 24 points, Kyle Lowry added 17, and Chase Budinger dished out 13 points for the victors. The
Rockets closed on seven team rebounds.
Boston Celtics (28-9)
Ray Allen and Marquis Daniels scored 19 each, Paul Pierce added 16 and Glen Davis swished 12 points to the Celtics box score. The Celtics grabbed four team rebounds.
With three centres, Yao Ming, Chuck Hayes and Brad Miller injured, the Rockets could manoeuvre only 22 out of total 108 points in the paint. The Boston Celtics were better in the under observation stat. They heaped out 48 whilst limiting the Rockets to just
22. The Rockets needed an accentuating shooting over the Boston Celtics, considering the injured centres.
Game stats
Rockets outrebounded the Celtics, 38-31, took 12-9 offensive rebounds and were 15-12 in fast break points. They took the biggest lead with 12 and limited the Celtics to five only. The Rockets gave away as many as 15 turnovers whereas the Celtics went through
with 12. The Celtics took 48 points from the painted area and let the Rockets through with just 22.
Turning point
Pierce made an effort to drill holes for the Celtics with just five minutes left in buzzer. Boston was in an eight point deficit at that point. The player dwelled in for two three pointer attempts but missed them, followed by a layup shot attempt that was
also missed. (Rockets) Brooks rimmed out of the missed shots and quickly took a three pointer. This leashed out a five-point gap that edged the Rockets to an 11 point run over the Celtics. Time had fled out of Celtics hands by that moment and the Celtics hardly
dared to meet up the challenge that the Rockets set on.
Quote it!
(Rockets) Brooks later commented on his team’s undersized backcourt. "We got two guys in there who can create and shoot the ball. As long as Kyle [Lowry] can guard the two man that makes us very dangerous.”
Hottest player
Budinger has been an asset for the Houston’s coach Rick Adelman. He adores the player and has always been motivating him. The player scores awesomely well from off the bench. The 22-year-old swingman hit all of his four shots in the second quarter, which
also includes three which were posted from long distance to make up 11 overall.
Weakest player
The Celtics 26-year-old guard Nate Robinson has been struggling to pull out a range from the floor lately. The
Seattle born player could only assemble one out of his seven shots in the game. He could only earn three points for the Celtics off the hood. The player has maintained a flimsy 33 percent shooting in his last ten games.
Quotable
Its hard to please your coach but coach Adelman seemed pleased with his team’s performance as he later expressed his feelings, saying, "Every time we come here we have people out and end up winning the game. It just shows what you can do when you go
out there and bust your tail. After five tough games, I was very proud of the way these guys approached this game."
