NBA Recap: Charlotte Bobcats beat the Golden State Warriors 121-113 in overtime
Stephen Jackson registered a game-high 31 points, 4 assists, and 7 rebounds as the Charlotte Bobcats outlasted the Golden State Warriors 121-113 in overtime on Friday night at ORACLE Arena. This was the third consecutive win for the Bobcats.
D.J. Augustin had 27 points and 12 assists while Boris Diaw ended with 13 points to propel the Bobcats to their fifth win in the last six games.
Stephen Curry erupted with 27 points for Golden State, who have dropped four in a row. After the game, the second year do-all guard said.
“We had a chance to win the game and we didn't," "It is really frustrating when we play hard. It is not like our effort was the reason we lost. We just had lapses where we could not rebound, gave up too many baskets down low and we let them back in the game,"
Monta Ellis ended up with 21 points on miserable 6-of-24 shooting, while Dorell Wright also finished with 21 points for the Warriors, who have lost 13 of their last 14 on their home court. Warriors centre Andris Biedrins also had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
First Quarter
Both teams had a solid start and but the Warriors eventually started to dominate and raced onto a 6 points lead, 28-22, by the end of the first twelve minutes.
Second Quarter
Second quarter was a very tight affair as both the teams had 22 points each, allowing the Warriors to carry their six- point (50-44) advantage at halftime.
Third Quarter
The Bobcats fought hard to cut down the deficit in the third. After an initial slump though, the Warriors again tightened their grip on the game. They controlled every aspect of the game and limited their turnovers as well. Ellis knocked down a trey in the final seconds to give Golden State a comfortable 76-60 lead, heading into the final stanza.
Fourth Quarter
The Bobcats came out with all guns blazing in the fourth stanza. They reeled off an 11-0 run midway through the fourth and closed to within a single point (83-82), on a pair of Gerald Henderson free throws. Jackson carried the action after that and sank a long-range jumper near the end of regulation to tie the game at 101-101. This was the way it stayed as the game headed into overtime.
Overtime
Stephen Jackson broke the ice with a nice eight-foot jumper to start the extra frame. The Bobcats always led after that. Golden State slashed the deficit to four on two occasions though, the last coming at 117-113 with 38.6 seconds left. However D.J. Augustin converted four free throws right at the end to seal the victory.
