Blake Griffin clinched 17 points and 15 rebounds to spearhead Los Angeles Clippers for a rare 92-87 road victory over the shorthanded Charlotte Bobcats at Time Warner Cable Arena on Monday night. The visiting team cherished a massive
support off the bench to crush Bobcats in all of the four quarters. Gerald Henderson landed a game-high 20 points as his exertion turned out to be insufficient for the home team to avoid fifth straight defeat.
Charlotte coach Paul Silas said after the game.
"We were close, but anytime you take the best player out of your lineup, you're going to suffer. We tried hard. We just didn't have enough."
Winning anywhere for Clippers without their top scorer Eric Gordon and on the road is quiet unusual as they accomplished both feats on Monday. With Gordon sidelined for an indefinite period, the bench also propelled a blistering
double-double by Chris Kaman with 16 points and 10 rebounds for their third straight victory.
Another pleasing factor of the night for Clippers was the number of free throws they availed. Los Angeles Clippers are known as the worst shooting team when it comes to free throws however they landed 23 this time of 29 attempts
for an electrifying win.
Bobcats forward Boris Diaw scored 19 points and grabbed 8 assists to escalate a belligerent confrontation throughout, who was struggling with his shooting in the previous three games.
Although, Clippers managed to surpass all the quarters but the home team didn’t made the life easier for them.
D.J. Augustin opened the scoring of the night with a dazzling 3-pointer shot as Bobcats clinched a 17-13 run with less than 5 minutes remaining in the first period. Blake Griffin lifted the momentum for the visiting team, scoring
9 points of his 17 in the first quarter to provide 27-26 lead to the Clippers.
Boris Diaw aggressive layup followed by a blistering long distance bucket snatched the lead from the visiting team 43-39 in the second quarter with almost 3 minutes left into the halftime. Los Angeles Clippers retaliated quickly
to reclaim the lead 49-47 as the game progressed into the first half.
Charlotte Bobcats restricted the opposition to score in the preliminary moments of the third quarter as they romped with 9-2 run to commence the second half of the game. Kaman took the possession of the ball for Clippers as he
succeeded in escalating a tie 63-63 with two minutes left in the final quarter. A couple of sizzling 3-pointers shots from the visiting team in the last two minutes clinched four points advantage for Clippers.
Los Angeles Clippers ensured their lead in the fourth quarter leaving few options for the home team to gain any sort of momentum. Gerald Henderson strived to cut down the deficit and gain advantage however Williams restricted him
to subjugate. On the verge of gaining advantage, Charlotte Bobcats give away a number of fouls as Clippers availed the opportunity of the free throws for a magnificent 92-87 victory.
Chances are still open for Charlotte Bobcats to mark their way towards the playoffs as they are standing at the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference. However they need to end their losing streak and continue to win games to make
this happen.
