NBA Recap: Los Angeles Clippers thump the Charlotte Bobcats, 103-88
On Saturday night, the Los Angeles Clippers thrashed the Charlotte Bobcats 103-88 at the Staples Center in front of 18,332 basketball fans. Rookie Blake Griffin got his 38th double-double of the season, scoring 24 points with 10
rebounds to lead Los Angeles, who snapped a two-game losing streak. It was Griffin’s 32nd double-double in the last 33 games. The sensational forward shot 11-for-23 from the field in nearly in 41 minutes of play.
Griffin stated after the game , "I think I am kind of used to it now," "But at the same time, I have got to do a good a good job of taking care of my body and getting rest and making sure I am ready to go night in and night out
through this whole process."
Randy Foye also scored a season-high 21 points for the victors. Ryan Gomes had 18 point while Baron Davis posted 12 points to lead the Clippers to their eight consecutive home win.
Stephen Jackson and reserve Gerald Henderson registered 14 points apiece for the Bobcats, who lost their second game in the last seven contests. D.J Augustin also netted 13 points while Kwame Brown had 7 points and 12 boards for
the Bobcats, who saw a three-game winning streak coming to end.
First Quarter Recap
Griffin scored 15 of his 24 points in the opening quarter, including a sizzling 360-degree spin and reverse layup, as he got the Clippers to a thunderous start. Griffin ended the first frame by dunking Foye's lob pass, that gave
the Clips a 24-23 lead, going into the second.
Second Quarter Recap
The Clippers turned the game on its head in the second frame. They carved right through the Bobcats defense and built a 15-point lead at the end of the half. The home team scored 33 points in the second quarter, while holding the
Bobcats to only 19.
Third Quarter Recap
The Clipper continued to play their up-tempo game and attacked the Bobcats’ rim extensively and with precision to expand their lead to 25 points at 5:13 mark. The Bobcats rallied back in the next few minutes but the Clips rattled
a 16-5 run later deep into the third to gain a 23 point advantage (83-60) at the end of the third.
Fourth Quarter Recap
Trailing by 23 points, the Bobcats fought hard to make the score a respectable one in the fourth quarter. However, Baron Davis scored eight of his 12 points to keep them at bay and seal a 15 point win.
