NBA Recap: New Jersey Nets beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 98-94 victory in overtime
The veteran power forward Kris Humphries clinched 18 points and a career-high 23 rebounds to spearhead New Jersey Nets for an enthralling 98-94 overtime victory over the slumping Cleveland Cavaliers. Brook Lopez landed a blistering
blow followed by a missed shot with 4.3 seconds remaining in the final buzzer to escalate a tie. The Cavaliers showed some great resistance throughout the play however they couldn’t sustain their momentum in the in the end.
The Cavs coach was disappointed with the defeat after reaching so close and said after the game.
"I thought we let it get away, I really thought we did. I thought we competed big-time, but we've just got to do a better job of executing down the stretch."
Nets all starters scored in double figure that had a major impact on procuring the victory. Travis Outlaw exploded off the bench with his 17 points for the visiting team to supply a substantial support in a confrontation showdown.
Ramon Sessions and J.J. Hickson were outstanding with the ball and combined for 38 points however their formidable exertion was overshadowed by the Nets in the end. Hickson also gathered 17 rebounds to make the life difficult for
the visiting team.
The game had its wavering moments for both the team as the night concluded in high spirits for New Jersey fans.

Daniel Gibson buried a scorching blow from downtown in the preliminary moments of the second quarter to amplify the lead 25-17. Nets retaliated stoutly and managed to snatch back the lead 27-26 with less than eight minutes remaining
in the halftime. On the verge of reclaiming the lead, bench carried the action for the Cavaliers and escorted the line-up to procure 42-39 advantage as the game progressed into the first half.
The second half of the game depicted some great resistance from both the teams who showed utter determination to surpass.
The home team failed to assail from the long distance in the third quarter that helped the visiting Nets to overcome the situation. New Jersey landed two sizzling 3-pointers in the period as both the teams entered the final quarter
on 62-62 tie.
Nets took the advantage of the free throws in the start of the fourth quarter to gain advantage. Lopez and Outlaw attacked the rim with successive jumpers to clinch 74-69 lead with six minutes reaming in the game. Parker’s blistering
blow beyond the arc escalated a tie once again, following a jump shot with 12.1 seconds left to nip 82-80 advantage. Lopez crushed the hopes of Cavaliers with a tip shot in the defining moments of the game and took the game in overtime.
The home team failed to sustain their momentum in the overtime and committed a number of fouls as Nets landed 11 points on free throws to seal a magnificent 98-94 victory.
