NBA Recap: Phoenix Suns rout the Toronto Raptors 110-92
On Friday night, the Phoenix Suns crushed the Toronto Raptors 110-92 at Air Canada Centre, and claimed the 13th consecutive victory against Raptors.
Both teams entered into this game on the back of big wins. The Raptors knocked down the Chicago Bulls by 118-113 on Wednesday night while Phoenix out-smarted the Atlanta Hawks 105-97 on the same night.
Suns’ Vince Carter and Marcin Gortat scored 17 points each as Suns cruised away to a win in front of 19,004 loud spectators at Air Canada Centre. Channing Frye scored 16 points and Steve N ash gathered eight points.
Suns coach Alvin Gentry said after this great victory, “I thought we did a good job of controlling the game, Although Steve didn't shoot the ball well, you can see how he can have total control over a game without being a scorer”.
For the Raps, Andrea Bargnani finished with a game high 26 points with a 12-of-15 shooting off the field. He also grabbed four rebounds while Leandro Barbosa had 15 points.
Raptors’ coach Jay Triano said after losing the game, “They jumped on us early and for whatever reason we were a step slow tonight, we were slow reacting, we were slow going to the ball on the glass and they take advantage of that”.
The Suns were on song right from the very start as they raced onto a 35-14 lead by the end of the first 12 minutes.  Phoenix never looked back after that. They led the second quarter 60-42 and then erupted in the third to snatch
an 86-62 advantage. A 24 points deficit entering the last frame of the game was a little too much for the Raps. They however reduced the margin of defeat by making some shots in the garbage time and finished the night with a 110-92 loss.
Phoenix is currently standing in 10th position in Western Conference with 29 wins and 27 losses and only two games behind from Memphis Grizzlies from the eighth playoff spot. They will be playing against Indiana Pacers,
New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and Oklahoma City Thunder in next two weeks.
Raptors’ next five fixtures will be against Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Hornets New Jersey Nets, and Utah Jazz in next two weeks. They are currently standing at 13th overall in Eastern Conference.
