NBA Recap: The Los Angeles Lakers breeze past the Minnesota Timberwolves 99-94
Kobe Bryant hit a shiny 33 points; Pau Gasol conquered 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The Los Angeles Lakers improved to an 8-0 for the third time in franchise history with a 99-94 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves
on Tuesday night at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles, CA.
The game was witnessed by as many as 18997 spectators who had come all the way to the arena to watch their favourite teams play against each other. The game lasted for 2:17 and was tied 10 times. The lead changed 16 times during
the whole game and kept the audience at the edge of their seats throughout.
Inactive Players
The inactive players among the Timberwolves were Jonny Flynn, Luke Ridnour and Martell Webster. The 7 foot 0 and 275 lbs centre Andrew Bynum, and forward Derrick Caracter were the inactive players among the Lakers.
Technical Foul
Michael Beasley from the Timberwolves committed the only technical foul that was seen in the whole game.
The Wolves still fail to win
This was the sixth straight defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves had to face.
Kevin Love was successful in scoring 23 points and he clinched a career-high 24 rebounds for the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves played well but still could not overcome a strong Lakers team.
Lamar Odom played sternly and overcame foul trouble as he scored two very important baskets to get 15 points for the Lakers.
Michael Beasley made 17 points for the Timberwolves; Sebastian Telfair scored 13 points and nine assists playing in for the point-guards Luke Ridnour and Jonny Flynn. The Minnesota Timberwolves were successful in scoring three-pointers,
three of which were by Telfair, who played guard for the Los Angeles Clippers formerly.
Bryant takes the lead forward
Kobe Bryant was playing very well. He even made up for Pau Gasol’s worthless game and Lamar Odom’s fouls. He played for 34 minutes and during that time he let the guarded Bucks defences go level down.
Odom trouble
After Odom’s turnover erupted a breakaway dunk by Corey Brewer, the Lakers led by just 89-87. At that moment there was only 5:43 left to play. A 3-pointer that changed the fate of the Lakers was hit by Odom when only 2:39 were
left.
Michael Beasley hit another three point play that led the Lakers 98-94 with 36 seconds left. The Timberwolves could not get it together after that.
The only two unbeaten teams of NBA are Los Angeles and New Orleans. The Lakers are very sharp in their shot selection and defence. They know how to stick together against their opponent team and defend themselves. Kobe Bryant went
9 for 15 in the first half while playing against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday. This put the Lakers up at 58-52 at halftime.
Pau Gasol successfully hit a fast break layup when there were only 1.9 seconds left in the third quarter. This gave the Lakers the biggest lead of the night: 82-71. Maurice Ager banked in a 48-footer from midcourt when the buzzer
rang.
Overall the game went very well; the Timberwolves, however, lost control of the game after Pau Gasol jumped in and eventually lost.
Coming Up: The Lakers will play against Denver on Thursday, Phoenix on Sunday and Milwaukee on Tuesday. The Timberwolves will play against Sacramento on Wednesday, New York on Friday and Atlanta
on Sunday.
