Golden State Warriors 117 - Sacramento Kings 109
With a furious fourth-quarter comeback at Arco Arena, the Golden State Warriors held a 117-109 win over the host Sacramento Kings.
Monta Ellis played fantastically and led the Warriors with 36 points, nine coming in overtime. Reggie Williams registered 24 points for Warriors, who won for only the fourth time on the road this season. Dorell Wright had 17, and
David Lee added 15 points and 12 rebounds in the season’s tenth victory.
Beno Udrih led the Kings with 34 points while teammate Carl Landry contributed 22 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, in King’s 21st defeat of the season. Tyreke Evans had 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists for
the Kings, who now lost six games in a row.
Both teams started ice cold, however the Warriors got it offensively later on and established 26-18, lead heading into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Kings caught fire to make the score respectable one and trimmed the deficit by seven points. Besides playing floppy basketball, the Warriors maintained a single point lead at the halftime, 49-48.
The Sacramento extent their sizzling performance to third quarter and scored 36 points while holding the opponent to just 21. The Warriors committed six turnovers that led to numerous easy opportunities for the Kings to assume
an 84-70 lead.
Early in the fourth quarter, it appeared to be just another loss for the Warriors, but they began frustrating the Kings on defense, forced 10 turnovers to come out from a 16-point deficit, and extended the game to overtime. The
Warriors outscored Sacramento 32-18 in the fourth.
With 44 seconds remaining, Ellis added two free throws to seal the victory for Warriors.
"What changed the game for us was defense," "We made stops and got some layups at the other end. We got on a real hot streak at the end of the game. We needed a road win; we had to get this game." - - David Lee said.
Milwaukee Bucks 98 - Los Angeles Lakers 79
The short-handed Milwaukee Bucks came into Staples Center on Tuesday and trounced the Los Angeles Lakers, 98-79, at Staples Center in front of 18,997 basketball fans.
Earl Boykins scored a season-high 22 points and John Salmons added 20 points in the 11th victory of Bucks during the season. Andrew Bogut scored 15 points and Ersan Ilyasova had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Bucks, who broke
the Lakers' five-game winning streak.
For the Lakers, Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 21 points, before been ejected. Pau Gasol added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers in a defeat that may have been their worst of the season.
In the first quarter, both teams maintained same velocity and played offensively. Anyhow, the Bucks slowly build a 3-point lead at the end of first quarter, 25-22.
Once again, Milwaukee and Lakers presented same kind of game even in the second quarter. The Bucks maintained a 50-46 lead at the halftime.
The Lakers went big and Boykins came up even bigger in the third quarter. Boykins drilled a 3-pointer on the right wing to give the Bucks a 68-63 lead. Boykins' spurt started a 9-3 run to close out the third quarter.
The Bucks outscored the Lakers in the final period by 26-13 and sealed the 11th victory of the season.
"Both ends were good for us, so I don't want to pick one," "In the second half, we were as good as we've been all year on the defensive end. To hold that team to 33 points, and 13 in the fourth quarter, that's a difficult task."
