NBA-Round up, March 28th: Charlotte Bobcats, Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks win (part 1)
Charlotte Bobcats 87 – Milwaukee Bucks 86
Gerald Henderson led with 16 points as the Charlotte Bobcats came from behind to script an 87-86 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday evening at Time Warner Cable Arena, Charlotte.
The Bobcats were trailing by six points 80-86 with 2:45 minutes left in the game, when Henderson fired up and made the killer surge. He hit seven points in a row including one dunk, a point from the line and two floaters for the
Bobcats, making it 87-86. Then Brandon Jennings let the Bucks down twice. He first missed a layup then a three from 23-foot. Even after making a lot of mistakes and loosing key players Bobcats ended up winning the game by one point.
Stephen Jackson scored 18 points, five rebounds and one assist. D.J. Augustin and Matt Carroll contributed 10 points apiece for the Bobcats.
Centre Andrew Bogut led the Bucks with 26 points, nine rebounds, one steal and two block shots. His teammate Luc Richard Mbah a Moute added 11.
Indiana Pacers 107 – Boston Celtics 100
Roy Hibbert made a game high with 26 points and Darren Collison added seven points at a crucial stage as the Indiana Pacers pulled away at the right time to rout the Boston Celtics 107-100 on Monday at Conseco Fieldhouse, Indianapolis.
In 5:47 minutes of the fourth quarter the Celtics tied the scores 94 all, when Collison came bold, hit a 16-foot two point shot and then steal the ball from Rajon Rondo at halfway, rushed back to dip one for another two points
which brought the crowd alive and pressed the Pacers to a 100-94 advantage. With 3:51 minutes to go, the Celtics made it closed to 102-97 but Collison came to aid again, hitting another floater and after Boston’s Paul Pierce hit a three-pointer, Collison made
a driving layup that allowed the Pacers to stole the game away.
Danny Granger made 18 points and Collison added 17 points for the Pacers.
Rajon Rondo contributed the most for the Celtics, he scored 22 points, four boards and eight assists. Paul Pierce chipped in with 23 points.
New York Knicks 113 – Orlando Magic 106
The New York Knicks nipped their six game losing streak, as they defeated the Orlando Magic 113-106 in an overtime on Monday at Madison Square Garden, New York. Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with his double-double in a game which
he called "almost a must win". He scored 39 points and 10 rebounds.
The Knicks were leading by six points 96-90 with 2:02 minutes left in the fourth quarter, when the Magic launched the assault and tied the scores at 100, with Jason Richardson’s swishing three-pointer with just 0:05 seconds to
go that pushed the game into extra-time.
The Knicks outscored the Magic in the overtime with a 7-2 run and won the game by seven points. Amare Stoudemire had 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Knicks.
Dwight Howard counted 29 points, 18 assists, two rebounds, and one steal for the Magic and Richardson scored 24 points.
