Memphis Grizzlies 84 - Los Angeles Clippers 83
Baron Davis missed an 18-footer at the buzzer, allowing the Memphis Grizzlies to escape with an 84-83 victory against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center.
Zach Randolph posted a team-high 18 points and 13 rebounds for Memphis. While Marc Gasol followed him with 17 points, four assists and eight rebounds.
Eric Gordon scored a game-high 25 points for the Clippers. Blake Griffin added 19 points, grabbed five assists and 11 rebounds in the defeat.
The Clippers were better in terms of rebounds, as they grabbed 43 rebounds compared to 31 for the Grizzlies.
The Clippers committed a season-high 27 turnovers, including 19 in the second half, allowing the Grizzlies to score 30 points.
"We need to buckle down and make sure we take care of the ball better." -- Blake Griffin.
Memphis reserve guard Tony Allen scored all eight of his points and had four steals in the fourth quarter, which was a big reason why the Grizzlies outscored the Los Angeles
Clippers 21-17 in the final 12 minutes.
Clipper’s point guard Eric Bledsoe was 0-for-5 from the field with no points, and committed a team-high five turnovers.
With under two minutes to go, the Clippers took a three-point lead into the final quarter, and the lead changed hands four times. Consecutive dunks by Rudy g*y and Tony
Allen gave the Grizzlies an 82-79 lead.
The Grizzlies then sealed the game against the frustrated Los Angeles Clippers, who lost in the final second for the second straight time.
Atlanta Hawks 97 – Indiana Pacers 83
Jamal Crawford scored a game-high 25 points and and played with a lot of spirit against the Atlanta Hawks in their eighth consecutive home victory over the Indiana pacers
at Philips Arena, 97-83. It was the Pacer’s fourth straight defeat on the road.
Al Horford scored 16 with 16 rebounds and a career-high eight assists, while Josh Smith chipped in 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked two shots for Hawks.
"My team was looking for me, and I was able to deliver," Smith said after the game.
Mike Dunleavy led the scoring for Indiana with 16 points, making 4 of 6 three-pointers in the defeat. Danny Granger and Brandon Rush each added 14 points for the Pacers.
Granger and Roy Hibbert’s performance was not up to the mark as each of them shot only 3 of 14 from the field.
Granger also missed all five of his three-point attempts, and has made just one of 10 over two games.
Both teams appeared gassed in the first quarter, combining to make 11 of 41. However, the Hawks out-scored the Pacers 17-3 to start the second period, as Teague had a
bucket, three rebounds and two assists in just four minutes.
Pacers’ coach Jim O'Brien told reporters after the game, "It's a credit to their defence. They really defended us well."
Boston Celtics 93 - Charlotte Bobcats 62
Boston Celtics put in a great defensive performance and thoroughly dominated a lackluster Charlotte Bobcats squad by 93-62. A full house at the Time Warner
Cable Arena was filled with Celtics fans.
Ray Allen and Glen Davis scored a game-high 16 points apiece in the win for Boston. Kevin Garnett added 13 points and 11 rebounds in just under 24 minutes, for his 11th
double-double of the season.
Nazr Mohammed scored a team-high 14 points and Stephen Jackson added 13 points and seven assists for the Bobcats in the defeat.
Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace missed his first five shots and was 1-for-7 at half time, while guard D.J. Augustin was 0-for-6 in the first half and missed all eight of
his shots.
Bobcat’s coach Larry Brown was deeply concerned about their poor performance, as he said "I don't see any grit and that really surprises me.”
The Bobcats scored just 32 points in the first half, their lowest total of the season. They followed that up with a 15-point third quarter, which is again their worst
mark of the year. The Bobcat’s 62 points was their lowest score this season.
After scoring the final five points of the second quarter to open a 10-point halftime lead, the Celtics went on a 14-4 run early in the third quarter to put the game out
of reach.
