NBA Roundup 30th March: Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat win (Part-2)
Philadelphia 76ers 108 – Houston Rockets 97
On Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center, Jrue Holiday and Thaddeus Young combined for 46 points to vanguard the Philadelphia 76ers towards a comprehensive 108-97 victory over the Houston Rockets. The Sixers are now one win away from clinching a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.
Andre Iguodala and Holiday combined to dish out 22 of Philadelphia’s 30 assists. Young came off the bench and proved once again that he deserves more playing minutes. The star forward provided a substantial support in the second straight win for Philadelphia.
Kyle Lowry landed a team-high 19 points and gathered three rebounds while the leading scorer of the Rockets, Kevin Martin ended the night with 18 points.
The Houston team was rocketing from the 3-point line in the first half however the Sixers were strong enough to maintain pace with them. Holiday scored 13 points before halftime but Rockets continuous assail from beyond the arc gave them 55-52 advantage.
The Sixers however choked the Rockets offense completely in the second half of the game. They majorly dominated the proceedings and not only snatched the lead from the opposition, but also cruised to an 11-point win.
Milwaukee Bucks 104 – Toronto Raptors 98
Star guard Brandon Jennings exploded with a game-high 25 points to lead Milwaukee Bucks to a 104-98 victory over the lowly Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre on Wednesday night. The Bucks are currently languishing at the 10th place in the Eastern Conference and a win against the Raps kept alive their slender hopes of making it to the play-offs this season.
Andrea Bargnani and DeMar DeRozan combined for 42 points to lead the Raptors in a hardly fought game. Toronto romped with a 24-12 run in the starting minutes of the play to grasp the initiative. However, Jennings bounced back for the Bucks in the remaining period of the first half to propel his team to a 52-49 lead. He finished with 13 points in the first half.
Bargnani lifted the momentum for the Raps in the third quarter as they managed to take the game in the final quarter with the scores tied at 76. The fourth quarter also went down to the wire before Carlos Delfino’s two consecutive blows beyond the arc settles the matter in Bucks favour.
Miami Heat 123 – Washington Wizards 107
The superstar trio of Miami Heat LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh combined for a massive 94 points as the men from the south Beach thrashed the Washington Wizards in their own building, 123-107.
Jordan Crawford had a milestone night as he landed a blistering game-high 39 points for Washington. However his incredible performance was comprehensively crushed by the Heat.
The Big three were in their zone from the very start as they propelled Miami to a 63-52 advantage by halftime. Wade scored 22 points in the first two quarters. Crawford and Maurice Evans strived to cut down the deficit in the second half and succeeded in bringing the scores to 88-87. Miami’s flawless shooting however came in their way and the visiting team concluded the proceedings with a comprehensive 123-107 victory.
