NBA Roundup 6th April: Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns wins (Part-3)
Milwaukee Bucks 90 – Miami Heat 85
Miami Heat were knocked down once again when one of the Big Three, Dwyane Wade, was not seen in the starting five. Four players from Milwaukee Bucks landed double figures to overpower Heat in a 90-85 hunt down at American Airlines Arena.
John Salmons led the Bucks with a team-high 17 points and five rebounds to spearhead his line-up for an incredible win. The Heat was massively relying on their duo LeBron James and Chris Bosh who scored 29 and 18 points respectively. The remaining players
failed to score more than eight points which provided room for Milwaukee to stun the South beach.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra was quiet disappointed and said after the game. "Nobody said this was going to be easy. This is a tough painful loss and it feels like the playoffs right now as it should. As we finish out these last four games, they all have meanings."
Bosh opened the scoring of the night with a jump shot but Milwaukee’s starters took the charge swiftly and romped with 10-0 run to procure a huge lead. Keyon Dooling came up with two blistering shots from downtown to amplify the lead 33-19. James lifted
the momentum with back to back blows as the home team managed to cut down the deficit to 1 point. However the visiting Bucks restricted Miami to land in the last three minutes before halftime to avail 45-40 advantage as the game progressed into the first half.
The home team bounced back strong in the third quarter and buried four scorching blows from beyond the arc to escalate a 63-63 tie. Anthony landed two free throws followed by a spirited hook shot and James running dunk shot provided 77-73 lead to the Heat
with six minutes left in the game. Brandon Jennings and Dooling smashed Miami with three 3-pointers in the defining moments of the game and ac couple of free throws in the last 10.8 seconds steered Milwaukee for an electrifying 90-85 win.
Phoenix Suns 108 – Minnesota Timberwolves 98
Despite of engaging their bench for nearly half of the game, Phoenix Suns managed to rout the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves 108-98. With 62 defeats so far, the Wolves have become the league’s worst team now.
Steve Nash and Grant Hill were on the bench for the entire second and fourth quarter of the game; however the Suns were never haunted by the opposition. Four players from the bench landed double figures for Phoenix. Marcin Gortat racked up 20 points and
16 rebound to lead his line-up for a comprehensive victory.
The Suns’ bench was firing on all cylinders and didn’t let Michael Beasley and Anthony Randolph come in their way who scored 24 and 19 points respectively.
Phoenix took the charge stoutly and romped with 11-2 run to wrap up an early advantage. Wesley Johnson buried two successive 3-pointers and Beasley carried the action for Minnesota however Phoenix’s reserves displayed an outstanding performance. The bench
smashed the opposition and sustained their lead to 56-53 as the game progressed into the halftime.
Gortat and Hill reinstated the court after halftime and dominated Minnesota with their brilliance. The home team strived to retaliate but Gortat’s 10 points in the third quarter provided 82-77 lead to the visiting Suns before entering the final period.
The reserves were back with their allure in the fourth quarter and carried the momentum for Phoenix. Brooks and Vince Carter took the possession of the ball, leaving few options for the home team to gain any sort of momentum. Webster landed the final bucket
followed by Brook’s sizzling 3-pointeras the night ended in high spirits for the Suns with an outstanding 108-98 victory.
