New York Knicks 117 – Philadelphia 76ers 103
Amar'e Stoudemire tied his season-high with 41 points to push the New York Knicks past the Philadelphia 76ers, 117-103, at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Landry Fields scored a career-high of 25 points and 10 rebounds for the Knicks, who finally snapped out of their two-game losing streak this season.
Elton Brand had a team-high of 28 points in the defeat as he rebounded with his 17th career 40-point game.
Lou Williams had 19 points while the reserve Thaddeus Young ended with 16 points for the Sixers, whose three-game winning streak came to an end.
A slow first quarter by Philadelphia allowed the Knicks the advantage going on a 9-2 run to take a 31-24 lead within the opening 12 minutes of the game.
New York got off to a quick start in the second quarter, using quality defence and efficient scoring to take a 55-51 edge at the half.
The Knicks extended their offensive play to the third quarter as they expanded their lead by six points (86-80).
Heading into the fourth quarter of the game the Sixers struggled to cut the deficit but New York got three pointers from Shawne Williams, Raymond Felton, and Toney Douglas to go ahead by 92-80 early in the final stanza.
Landry Fields then put the game out of reach of Philadelphia with a superb three pointer to make the score 111-97 with just two minutes to go.
The Sixers top scorer Elton Brand appreciated the opponent teams efforts as they bagged their 26th victory of the season.
"They have a really talented team. They can score in bunches and you saw that tonight." "We had a great streak and we are playing really well, so we need to regroup and get on to Atlanta," Brand later commented on the game.
Boston Celtics 91 – Orlando Magic 80
Rajon Rondo scored a season-high 26 points as the Boston Celtics clipped the visiting Orlando Magic 91-80 at TD Garden in Boston.
Paul Pierce came off the bench with 18 points while Kevin Garnett posted 16 for Boston, who improved to 23-4 at home this season.
Dwight Howard played well as he registered 28 points and 13 rebounds for the Magic's, who have lost five of their last eight contests.
Ryan Anderson had 12 points and seven rebounds for Orlando, who lost their twentieth game of the season.
The Celtics played a sloppy game in the opening quarter, providing the Magic's with an opportunity to take a 22-17 lead into the second quarter.
Boston was back into the game in the second quarter as they cut a five-point deficit into a three-point (46-43) lead by halftime.
Orlando fought hard in the third quarter as they scored the last six points to cut the lead to 70-61 with 38 ticks to go in the third quarter. However, Boston made a spectacular turnaround with a 7-2 run to take a 77-63 lead by the end of three
quarters.
The Celtics began the third quarter very actively as they expanding their lead to an 89-73 with just 01:47 remaining in the final buzzer. To seal their victory.
