NBA Roundup March 28: Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers and Washington Wizards win (part 2)
Philadelphia 76ers 97 – Chicago Bulls 85
The Philadelphia 76cers cracked the 14 games winning streak of the Chicago Bulls, as they routed them by 97-85 on Monday at United Centre, Chicago. Thaddeus Young marshalled the Sixers attack scoring 21 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and
four block shots.
The Sixers led the Bulls by 23 points in the halftime. The Bulls sliced it to just four points during the fourth quarter, but failed to notch the lead from the Sixers and dropped the game. The Sixers didn’t allow the Bulls to take lead in the entire game.
Andre Iguodala had 19 points and seven assists for the Sixers. Six players made it into double figures for the Sixers.
The Sixers tried almost everything to hold the star point guard Derrick Rose, but still he managed to score 31 points, four rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block.
Carlos Boozer counted 15 points and Joakim Noah added 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulls.
Portland Trail Blazers 100 – San Antonio Spurs 92
Andre Miller led the Portland Trail Blazers attack to overcome the San Antonio Spurs 100-92 on Monday at AT&T Centre, San Antonio. The Spurs missed Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Antonio McDyess due to injury.
The Trail Blazers matched their most horrible performance during a regulation, as they were restricted to just nine points in the third frame. On the other hand this was the Spurs best defensive effort in the entire season.
The Spurs were leading by eight points in the first two and a half minutes of the fourth part. But they failed to hit their next eight shots and let the game slipped away, as the Blazers made the rally and outscored them in a 15-1 run that put the Trail
Blazers on an 87-81 advantage with just two minutes in the game. The run dented the spirits of the Spurs and they never brought themselves back in the game. The Trail Blazers won by eight points.
Wesley Matthews made 19 points and Nicolas Batum chipped in with 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Blazers.
George Hill led the Spurs with 27 points, two rebounds, six assists and one steal.
Washington Wizards 100 – Utah Jazz 95
The Washington Wizards relinquished the struggling Utah Jazz by 100-95 in the overtime, thanks to rookie guards John Wall and Jordan Crawford, who scored 28 and 25 points respectively.
The Wizards lost the 10 points lead in the fourth quarter, but Crawford hit 15-foot floater to tie the game and pushed it into the overtime.
The floater gave Crawford the boast he required as he took over in the extra time. He swiped one and dipped it in the basket the Wizards an 87-85 advantage. He stole another, and got a foul while rushing to the basket. On which he hit two points from the
paint area to give the Wizards an 89-85 lead. Then Maurice Evans hit a whoosher followed by an assist from John Wall to put the Wizards up by seven and led the Jazz rest of the way.
C.J. Miles scored most points for the Jazz, he made 17. Earl Watson had 13 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and one steal.
