Both contenders initialized the 1st quarter with all guns blazing. They progressed in an extremely attacking manner, going neck-to-neck until the end of the 1st quarter. However, it was the Clippers who led the opening quarter 29-28 points. The Clippers managed to score an impressive 24 points in the 2nd quarter. Awesome passing, dribbling and shooting, paved way, giving the Clippers ample scoring chances and points. However, this was short-lived, as New York Knicks counter-retaliated with impressive game-play and precision shooting, earning 30 points. As a result, the 2nd quarter ended with the Knicks leading 58-53 points.
Both teams approached the 3rd quarter with extreme aggression and antagonism. This change of tactics paid well for both contenders allowing them to score at ease. The New York Knicks managed to bag 35 points while their opponents ended with 32 points. The final score at the end of this quarter was 93-85. With the Knicks leading by a mere 8 points, much more was expected in the closing quarter.
The closing quarter was a nail-biter, filled with extreme apprehension and aggression. The tension and atmosphere was such that the crowd was behind the game until the very end. The Knicks managed to score 31 points, thanks to brilliant strategy and game-play. The Clippers were not far behind also as they managed to score with ease, bagging 30 points. But, it was bad news for the home crowd as the Clippers lost the game by a meager 9 points. It was Amar'e Stoudemire for the Knicks who scored 39 points, helping his team win 124-115.This assures his place in the team, as he has now been given a five–year contract with them. However, the top scorer for the game was dynamic Blake Griffin, but he stated it just was not his day.
