NBA Rundown–Dallas Mavericks Tame Atlanta Hawks
This Saturday, 14,000 basketball fans, witnessed an epic clash between the Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks. It was an eye-catching,
battle as the two teams were neck-to-neck, in a game which lasted for 129 minutes, being equalized twice .It was a complete nail-biter for viewers at the Phillips Arena, as Dallas Mavericks won 98-93.
It was a close battle from the very start as both teams, initiated boldly, scoring at all the opportunities given to them. But it
was Dallas Mavericks that managed to lead the 1st quarter 28-25, thanks to Jason Kidd, Dirk Nowitzki and Tyson Chandler. The trio managed to guide their team to a 3 point
lead by the end of the opening quarter. However Atlanta Hawks weren’t so lucky, as majority of their players scored 2 or 3 points. Joe Jhonson was the only exception, attaining 6 points
The 2nd
quarter was totally one-sided as Dallas Mavericks thrashed Atlanta Hawks 27-18 points .Most of the damage was done by Mavericks star duo, Jason Terry and Cason Butler, scoring 9 and 11 points respectively. For the
Hawks, It was stand-alone player, Jason Smith who bagged 16 points, and managed to give his team a respectable score by the end of the 2nd quarter.
However the 3rd
quarter was a tad favorable for the Hawks, as they administered to score a respectable 25 points compared to 22 points of the Mavericks. The Mavericks
seemed to have lost some of their steam but still scored enough to compete for the final quarter .It was Atlanta Hawks Joe Smith, who did the damage in this quarter, taking his tally to 19 points. He was joined by fellow teammate Al Horfored, who chipped in
with 10 points, allowing his team to end the quarter 77-68,still trailing by 9 points.
The closing quarter was a repetition of the 3rd
quarter, being a nail-biter as well. Although Atlanta Hawks managed to sneak ahead 25-21 points, yet they couldn’t seal the match on a winning note. Finally it was Dallas Mavericks, who won with a final score-line of 98-93 points, wining by a mere 5
points. The leading scorers for the clash were Dirk Nowitzi and Joe Smith, who bagged 21 points apiece
