NBA Season Preview – expectations and predictions (Part 5)
(Western Conference)
Utah Jazz
One of the impressive teams during the last year’s regular season was the Utah Jazz, who managed to maintain a 53-29 record. This season is going to be no different for the team as they are expected to finish with the same record.
During the off season, the Utah Jazz added a few players who might increase the winning games if they play to the best of the abilities. The Utah Jazz was able to add Al Jefferson and Gordon Hayward to their roster. But the trade of Carlos Boozer and Kyle
Krover would hurt them for sure, as both players were extremely talented and key players in the Utah Jazz squad. Both of the players have moved to the Chicago Bulls to join hands with Derrick Rose.
Expected to maintain the same record, the Utah Jazz would be placed at the 3rd spot in the Western Conference standings at the end of the regular season. The bold prediction about the team is that Gordon Hayward addition to the team would see
him play no more than 15 minutes per game but he would be selling a lot jersey compared to Al Jefferson who is the other addition to the Utah Jazz.
The Utah Jazz lost their 2nd best player through the free agency this year but their hopes for bringing a player of the same calibre and skill are not successful as they couldn’t find a perfect replacement. If the Utah Jazz doesn’t win at least
53 games, then it should be disappointment. The reason for this being the fact that Al Jefferson’s knee problem is finished after the surgery, Deron Williams is growing in skill and talent day by day and Jerry Sloan’s leadership all blend together to form
a very talented and strong mixture for the upcoming season.
Dallas Mavericks
Last year saw the Dallas Mavericks end the regular season maintaining a 55-27 record. During the course of the offseason, the Dallas Mavericks was successful in adding Tyson Chandler to the roster and saw Erick Dampier leave the team to take his talents
to Charlotte Bobcats.
This season the Dallas Mavericks are expected to maintain a 52-30 record during the regular season and finish 4th in the Western Conference. They are expected to finish at the top of the Southwest Division. The bold prediction about the Dallas
Mavericks is that the legendary Jason Kidd would be replaced by Rodrigue Beaubois during the regular season during the crunch time in the season.
The Dallas Mavericks have one of the best owners in the sport. He has always listened to the fans, which is one of the reasons that the Dirk Nowitzki is still with the team. The Dallas Mavericks can finish in the 3rd place if the giant is able
to regain the form that he has shown over the past couple of seasons.
Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets had a very disappointing season last year during which they only won 42 games. The reason to this is that like Kobe, Yao Ming is the key player for the whole season. Yao Ming is back now and the team is expected to pile up wins once again
like the previous seasons.
They are expected to end the regular season with 51-31 finishing in the 6th spot in the Western Conference. The bold prediction for the Houston Rockets is that if Yao stays fit, he would be playing 70 plus games which would take the Houston Rockets
into the playoffs.
However, it should be kept in mind that if the Houston Rockets lose Yao Ming because he said that if he faces any trouble concerning his fitness he would retire immediately, this would turn out to be disastrous. The Houston Rockets issued a statement that
said that they have a very good chance of winning the Conference provided that their weapon stays healthy which is Yao Ming. Some say that the 30% of the Houston Rockets success will be depending on Yao Ming.
